Route 91 fest Vegas shooting?
I have not watched the news. I have seen some videos, and there seems to be a lot of them out there. Call me weird, but I'm dumbfounded by the fact that many folks, in the middle of gunfire, took the time to video record, out in the open with no shelter, the mayhem around them with their cell phones. I even saw a group of guys with beers in their hands standing around while people around them are ducking, running, cowering from the gunfire. I just think it is surreal.

Apparently the shooter's dad had been a bank robber and was known to be psychopathic. Just another bit of grist for the mill.

Well that's similar to the Asian plane crash at San Fran several years ago.

The plane is on fire, there are people actively dying in front of them and what are people doing? Recording things on their cell phones. Never mind helping people out, or heck, getting out of dodge before the plane explodes. Gotta get the cell phone coverage.

I'm not commenting on this yet as I'm waiting for more information to come out, but the shooter's brother seems to be genuinely confused that his brother would do this.

He was interviewed outside what I assume was his home and it looked like a rather nice home. His brother has two planes, nice home...guy seemed to have means.

Just feels so much different than other shooters. If that brother isn't completely baffled by this, he is the best actor I've ever seen.

People in crisis respond in strange ways sometimes.

I've watched a couple videos.

I don't think any performer or civilian in attendance can be faulted for most any reaction in the heat of the moment. This is an unprecedented level of attack. It has similarities to the UT shooting, but that was a long time ago. This was also at night, in a loud venue, with attendees of all ages and all levels of intoxication/impairment. The variety of responses by attendees from huddling on the ground to running to looking for another beer aren't all that surprising given the chaos and circumstances.

LE's response and resolution appears to have been proficient, if not exemplary, though full timeline and details are yet to emerge. I wonder if the curved shape of the Mandalay Bay helped in the acoustic acquisition of the source of the gunfire. By reports the muzzle flashes were plainly evident as well.

Ha - now there's a different reaction! Looks like he's drinking an energy drink and not a beer. Bold....kinda dumb, but bold.

I don't fault Jason Aldean. Once he found out there was a shooter it would have been fair of him to assume that he was a primary target. Taking cover was quite reasonable, and I would do the same.

I watched the entire conference of the Sheriff. He is doing a great job as noted. Likely at this point, he has been up 36 hours.

That press conference is how it is done. He handled himself very well, and was poised when answering questions.

Interestingly, he noted that after the breach, SWAT officers did fire their weapons upon entry. This is the nightmare scenario that we all fear.

This has brought out the expected morons online. Some tweets are calling him a coward...let's put them on stage and start randomly shooting and see what they do.

I am sorry this has happened is my statement.

As esdunbar stated, the guy rolled a lot of money.
Perhaps he made money on real estate, perhaps he made top dollar salaries, but perhaps he was tied in to a cartel? I , like others can only speculate until facts come out

But it just seems strange, his spending, although, yes , he did gamble. Debts??

Akin to the "Fuck you, I'm Millwall' guy in London not too long ago.

Thoughts and prayers to those directly affected by this cowardly and despicable act of mass murder.

We'll see, but right from the start I said to my wife "This strikes me as a deliberate attack on perceived conservatives and/or perceived Trump supporters"

Wow. The level of hatred in some liberals' hearts is seemingly boundless.

Highly doubtful.

My understanding and with some knowledge of hotel security....Paddock busted-out a window or, two, combined with enough smoke from his gunfire caused a handful of alarms to go off. Hotel security sees all of this from their command center, not to mention they probably had a couple of their personal checking it out, they put two-&-two together and pass info to LVPD. LVPD SWAT sends multiple teams up, secures above and below floors, and exits, while entry team conducts the room assault.

LVPD and Clark Co Sheriff SWAT teams are one of the more active teams in the country. It's not a mystery why the old TV show COPS had its own LV franchise show.
