Was looking for "real life" experience based on the rig. Yes it is 4wd with auto trans.

Sooo, what does the sticker in the Door Jamb say?

The trailer and it's abilities, the truck and it's abilities
And most importantly the driver's abilities all factor in to this
towing equation.

Giving the scenario you offered ,
I would not feel confident enough to make a 1500 mile "adventure" .
Maybe after a month or two of experience

Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency.

Forget how much it can pull. How much can it stop? Does the trailer have brakes?

anything that can legally hold nearly 12K will have brakes.

I think Kyoung hit a very important detail - auto transmission. I do not know their strength.
Mine is a ‘95 Ram 2500 with Cummins and manual trans. It too is gen2. This is a good, strong, reliable machine. It also has an upgraded, heavier clutch. I think with a class 5 receiver hitch I can do a 10k trailer load with the truck - as per the factory manual. I believe too the truck can do more - with a goose neck trailer.

A good point, made earlier, across town or across the state? And what is your experience driving such a rig? If you get the weight wrong on the trailer (tail heavy) that trailer/load will push the truck all over the place, creating a very dangerous situation.

This right here. Many of the truck runaway ramps are filled with pickups and trailers, with drivers who operate on long grades like they were driving a Camry.
