I believe in the principle of Due Process |
Last week former campaign aide for President Trump, Michael Caputo, made headlines when he testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee and outlined the personal impacts as a person caught up in the ridiculous frenzy of the Russian conspiracy narrative and the Special Counsel investigation. Mr. Michael Caputo finished his frustrated congressional remarks saying: “God damn you to hell.” People began to take note; many, perhaps for the first time. The personal impact upon the life of an ordinary citizen was explained by Mr. Caputo on a few TV shows, where he outlined the jaw-dropping financial costs incurred as a witness in the insufferable investigation. An investigation based on abject nonsense and left-wing conspiracy theory. Mr. Caputo and his family were on the precipice of financial ruin. Patriots took note. As of this writing over 5,300 people responded to a GoFundMe fundraising effort and almost $260,000 was raised in the past three days. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

OUTSTANDING! My heart went out to him when I heard his story. Damn shame.

Why can't you just go to the hearing without a layer and plead the fifth? Shouldn't cost that much.

Now in Florida |
When you have the full weight of the federal government bearing down upon you in the form of a special prosecutor on an ideological mission with no recognizable limits, I'd be amazed if you decided "Nah, no lawyer. I got this."

If they have enough to charge you already, you're not going to talk your way out of it. And you could very well make it a lot worse by thinking you can. It's not a crime to plead the Fifth. It's pretty clear that they're not interested in getting to the bottom of this whole thing, but rather collecting scalps and trying to flip anyone who can hurt Trump. I'd show up when a subpoena says I have to, plead the Fifth and ask when I'm free to go. Not another word. And I wouldn't talk with a lawyer present either. I really doubt big time defense lawyers in DC get rich by telling potential clients they don't need a lawyer, just keep quiet.

Very courageous indeed! It would be wonderful to live in a world where everything was simple and easy, and free of risk. Try that with, say, a speeding ticket sometime, and report back. It is one thing to speak to investigators as a witness, providing information about something being investigated that you might know about. Let’s say you are in the bank during a robbery. Tell them what you saw, assuming you had no connection to the event otherwise. Things get murkier the closer you are to the potential crime, or if the potential criminals are friends, relatives, you don’t want to cause trouble for. It’s even murkier when investigators have information that you have information they need corroborated, or details, etc. They have incentive to persuade you to tell them what they want to know. It’s like I used to tell my small sons when they didn’t want to take a bath. “We can do this the hard way, or the easy way. You pick!” Most of us in the situation have no experience, little to no information about what the investigation is about, what they know already. Election law is sufficiently murky, to me anyway, that I would be uncomfortable about making a mistake that would ruin 6 decades of solid, prosperous, mostly sober good citizenship. There is also the non-trivial chance of the investigators getting off on the wrong track, a mistake. Read the accounts of these FUBARS at the FBI, getting the wrong guy, ruining all kinds of lives in the process. How do you know whether taking the 5th and clamming up by an otherwise innocent witness might not have an effect similar to a red flag at a bull fight? Be careful out there! Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm. |
He said something interesting in one of his interviews. If I understood correctly he said, essentially, that the interrogators already knew, or had a good idea of, the answers to the questions, and that they were trying to see if his answers matched. This sounds like a good way to get jacked up if you answer "wrong," even if you have no intent to deceive (the key component of a lie).

This witch hunt proves that 'Justice is for those who can afford it, and most of us can't." Heard about the go fund me page on Limbaugh's program. Great News! When facing the resources of the State against you, your only hope are the resources of the citizens rallying for you against said State. -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.
