Hopefully businesses will jump ship by the thousands.

Aren't Yelp saying that vague complaints of racism by third parties against a business are not permitted. Anyone complaining of racist behavior by a business has to be the actual customer or victim and they will investigate before permitting it to be published?

Looks like they're preventing 'doxxing' by the Left, since people have previously been able to post all kinds of unsubstantiated complaints.

I don't get the outrage.

What is said by most "tech/platform" companies and what they actually do to manipulate data for agenda is almost always 180 degrees.

I agree. Yelp has monetized gossip. I ask people I know about a business, I do not consult Yelp.

It appears that Yelp is telling posters to knock off the hate and cancel culture postings.

However reading the page at the link it's more than that, Yelp is going to place a Scarlet Letter on any business that is reported as racist, until they investigate it.

Communities have always turned to Yelp in reaction to current events at the local level. As the nation reckons with issues of systemic racism, we’ve seen in the last few months that there is a clear need to warn consumers about businesses associated with egregious, racially-charged actions to help people make more informed spending decisions. Yelp’s User Operations team already places alerts on business pages when we notice an unusual uptick in reviews that are based on what someone may have seen in the news or on social media, rather than on a first-hand experience with the business. Now, when a business gains public attention for reports of racist conduct, such as using racist language or symbols, Yelp will place a new Business Accused of Racist Behavior Alert on their Yelp page to inform users, along with a link to a news article where they can learn more about the incident.

Seriously? You think this won't be abused and Yelp won't side with BLM and ignore facts?

Where have you been?

I guess we can circle back to this in the next 6 months or so and see if any of the businesses hit with this label are actually racist or not. Time will tell.

What business won't have this label? Maybe it will backfire and so many reviews will have it that it will lose all meaning

Same. Never used it never will. Some of my friend said to me recently "You don't use yelp, how do you know if the restaurant is good?" I replied I don't eat at restaurants so don't need any help from yelp. Another worthless app/website.

if I wasn't serious, I would have put a Big Grin in there.

I've been right here, along with the rest of you, watching the Left persecuting the shit out of businesses they consider to be racist. This, at least, seem to be an attempt to prevent the unsubstantiated dog-piling often used by leftist organizations and sympathizers to drive people and companies out of business for being insufficiently 'woke'. Whether it works like that, or is used like that, time will tell.

However, when all is said and done, it doesn't affect me too much, since I seldom look at Yelp.

Yelp.... Roll Eyes

They've been declining for quite a while - now they're desperate. Other review sites have outpaced them and Yelp probably won't be around much longer.

Inverse...what if someone were to do this at every black owned business...barber shop, big rim/stereo shop, weave shop, purple Sunday church suit store, etc. I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate it.
