911BossGot on the “Smash Burger” train…
Have seen a few references to “Smash Burgers” in a couple of threads and thought I would give it a try.
E X C E L L E N T ! ! !
Picked up a no-stick griddle on sale at Costco, and scored some ground brisket patties.
Onion bun
American and CoJack Cheese
Bacon
Vlasik Dill Slices
Beefsteak Tomato
Red Onion
Red Leaf Lettuce
Sooo much better than on the grill, much juicier and the great “crust”

Smash burgers are the only kind of burger I eat nowadays. Usually two days a week at Shake Shack (Martin’s potato bun). And I make my own one or two days a week on my cooktop griddle.
The low sides of the griddle allows my sharpened spatula to come in at a low angle to cleanly scrape the patty off with its delicious caramelized bottom layer intact.
I have a Blackstone burger smasher. It’s essentially a shallow cup with a robust handle that ensures the perfect patty thickness with parallel top and bottom surfaces:
