Delivery, like food? Sure. Delivery like furniture? Maybe, but it will require some extra effort on the delivery man's part. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

For certain/local deliveries, pizza, furniture, appliances, etc., I will tip the driver as those people don't make anything, not that we get any great amount of food delivered. For FedEx,USPS,etc., not a chance.

^^^ I think that woman is stupid for broadcasting it to the world. That asshole guy is now fired. He knows where she lives. You never know, he could be a real psycho that will take it out on her family in some way. Me, I do not order food for delivery. Only carry out. Q

As an 85-yo person who lives alone (with 4 cats) and is mobility-challenged, delivery of meals and groceries is a boon. The delivery services charge for the service, and I usually also offer a tip to the deliverer, who often brings the order inside for me. I'm not much for carry-out, which is difficult with a cane, but I do drive to some restaurants and convenience stores (and church). flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Since this popped back up i’ll update. I ended up giving the guy a $50 and he was genuinely shocked and very appreciative. So much so that I doubt he gets very many tips. He said seriously? The mower is about 450lbs and part of the shipping crate was broken so there was no way to get the pallet Jack under the crate he had to muscle the crate back and forth to get it near the Tommy lift. I had him drop the lift a bit and then I could get some blocks under the crate. Then raised the lift and it made room for the pallet Jack. It was probably 90 degrees in that truck and he put it in my garage. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 1s1k,

Just had a tree service trim a large oak tree in my front yard. Three man crew probably out there for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I was told they would be there between 11am and 1pm. They showed up a little before 11. They did a great job, cleaned up all the mess from the trim and were nice guys to talk to when they were done. I did not have anything cold to give them to drink when they were done so I gave them each a 10 dollar bill for later. They thanked me and off they went. Even tho they get paid to do the job I thought a little extra was earned because of the great job they did. About two years ago I had a new mattress delivered. Two man crew moved the old one and set up the new one. I handed each guy a 10 dollar bill then asked if they took the old mattress they said absolutely. It's a remote control lawnmower with a snow plow. I have a super steep section of my yard that is unmowable with typical mowers and it takes hours to weed wack so I started searching for options. Since I have been doing radio control hobbies since I was a teenager this thing was a no brainer. It works better than I could have ever imagined. It sticks to the hill like glue and will do 45 degrees no problem. I can't wait for it to snow this winter.

You mentioned having something delivered to you, coming from California. The guy making the final delivery to you is probably not the only guy to handle that item. So, a tip would only benefit the 'last guy,' who may have driven only a few miles, and said item was already loaded onto his truck. The guy making the actual pickup, and the dudes who drive hundreds of miles, don't see any of it. So, I say no tip, unless he does something akin to brining it inside or setting it up, etc., that is not normally part of the delivery. Wow. Very cool. Thanks for the explanation. I have some very steep spots on my place, and doing them with a zero turn or tractor mounted bush hog can really be a diamond producing experience.
