I hate this. I don't like any infighting on our side. I wish these two would have hashed this out in private. The debate bickering started on X a few days ago. Owens is challenging Shapiro to define 'antisemitism.' Shapiro wants a live debate with no moderator.

Lookimg forward to comments here.

I’m just going to say it: I don’t like Ben Shapiro. He’s been on the wrong side of a number of key issues for years now, and I haven’t listened to the guy since he was pushing the vaccines. His commentary on the 2020 elections pissed me off.

As for infighting, this is a divisive topic, and discussion and debate of topics like this is a healthy thing. I’m fine with “big conservative” brand commentators going at each other. Maybe Owens tears him a new ass, or maybe Ben comes off looking like a bully or an asshole, and I’m ok with any of those outcomes. There’s a lot of money wrapped up in these people getting in line behind certain issues and I’m in favor of a little rabble rousing.

I never really cared for Candace Owens myself. I always thought it was a mistake for The Daily Wire to hire her. She's an intellectual lightweight who thinks she's smarter than she is.

I never listened to her show so I really have no idea what she was saying that ultimately led to her leaving, but whenever I heard her on The Daily Wire Backstage shows, it always seemed like she was just trying to keep up with the conversation, and all her contributions were your standard, cookie cutter, right wing talking points. I just found her boring.

To be fair, I don't listen to Ben's show either.

He's most certainly not a never-Trumper. He was in 2016, but that has changed. He voted for him in 2020, and he will be voting for Trump in November.

Well said P220 Smudge.

It's always best to hear both sides.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I agree with this but I like both of them and I don't want it to get personal, and the way Owens is addressing Shapiro, it already is.

My thoughts exactly about Candace. And Shapiro is not only voting for Trump, he's actively donating money to his campaign.

I think it’s a bad idea for Candace to do a debate. Ben Shapiro like him or not is a lawyer who has had years of debate experience and this is about a subject he has been studying his entire life.

The only thing I want to know is why was she fired. He claims it’s not about free speech because he completely disagrees with Matt Walsh on their team and he was not fired. He says the Daily Wire has an Overton window so what is it that she said that is not within this imaginary Overton window.

I've always considered Ben Shapiro a neo-conservative at best and don't listen to him. Maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt?

Consensus regarding Candace Owens vs. Daily Wire is she wanted out of her contract and started pushing the "Jesus is King" narrative (toward Shapiro) as a means to antagonize and be dropped. Shapiro and his supporters apparently view anyone using the phrase "Jesus is King" when spoken to a Jewish person as antisemitic.

Both of them should shut the fuck up. I don't want to hear a Goddamned thing either one of them says, until they calm down and stop acting like bickering schoolchildren.

Just shut the fuck up. Sit down and be quiet for a while. Come back when you can behave like adults.

Who's right? Neither one of them.

Dumb! This is not real debate about anything. These two have been personally hating each other for quite some time, and this is just an excuse for them to let steam off.

Totally agree with this. Talk fast, talk over people. But when you're out of your comfort zone (destroying college kids with your "master debater" skill), you fall apart and turn tail and run. This is exactly what happened when he was humiliated by the BBC's Andrew Neil in 2019.

I like both and can find lots of issues with thier opinion I don't agree with. They both have gained greater celebrity status and now they're bickering and arguing as if there's not enough room in the conservative Millennial space for multiple voices.

I'm for the free and open marketplace of ideas. Let the best idea win.

Personal insults aren't ideas and I think both know the difference.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

This is a personal spat. Why should anyone care or have interest in their petty little disagreement?

Agreed.

I suspect the whole thing is ego driven by two people who just have to be “right” every time. Sooner or later, if two of those personality types are in close enough orbit, they are going to have a row about something.

Neither of them will concede a single thing, and their respective supporters will continue to support them.
