Human trafficking and prostitution in San Francisco

parabellumHuman trafficking and prostitution in San Francisco
Prostitution, human trafficking in broad daylightI've said it before and I'll say it again- it has to be this way, because the only way these insane leftists are going to even attempt to clean up the cesspool which they have created is for all of them to be walking- literally- through piles of shit. It's necessary for the criminal behavior to become so bad and affect such a large portion of the inhabitants, that there is no denying the absolute misery of it all.
These are the supposed "champions of women". Prostitution affects women far more than it does men, for the simple fact that most prostitutes are women- always have been, always will be. The same goes for human trafficking. Women and underage girls are the prizes for the modern slave trade. It is indescribable hypocrisy for the clueless commies to allow these things to flourish.
It has to be this way, because in order for things to have even a chance to get better, they have to continue to get worse until it reaches a point that the stupidest among us find themselves within the vicinity of a clue.

bendableThey had news stories on the L.A. news,
When I was living there in the early 80's, for crying out loud.
The chains of habit are light, until the time they become so strong,
That they can no longer be broken.

PrestokedThat has been going on there since the beginning. It's a San Francisco tradition.

parabellumNo, please do not attempt to minimize this. This has
not "been going on there since the beginning," whatever beginning you're referring to. Twenty years ago, people were not walking through piles of shit in the streets of San Francisco. Twenty years ago, these problems were nothing like they are now.
It's incredible that you just blow this off like it's business as usual. No way. Such apathy is a huge part of the problem.

PrestokedThat's true (piles of shit), but the prostitution and human trafficking have always been there. A former mayor of Sausalito is famous as a former prostitute in SF.
The filth of the city is new though. This came about or at least escalated tremendously since the Gavin Newsome (CA governor) reign as mayor there.
My intimate familiarity of the city goes back to the 40's. My intimate knowledge of the vice there goes back to the 60's.
I no longer even go into the city because of the filth and very visible and depressing homelessness. The stench of urine a shit has replaced the smell of the ocean.

parabellumAgain, please stop attempting to minimize the critical severity of current conditions by saying "it's always been there."

ZSMICHAELIt is a shame. Last there in 1978. Was nice back then with the usual city issues.

ElToroI heard about this law passing but didn’t realize it was that bad. Who could imagine Scott wiener was behind it. Anybody paying attention to San Francisco or Sacramento knows he’s an ultra woke lefty. One more reason I left that state.
The leftists have a supermajority in Sacramento and .gov hair ball rubber stamps every insane law that passes his desk, unintended consequences be damned.
It’s almost like they want to make conditions so bad that some Paul Kersey/Travis Bickle wanna bes will come out of the woodwork and then they can blame the vigilance on guns and right wingers etc. when it appears it’s all intentional the whole time to simultaneously neuter the cops and not prosecute new crimes and let pretty much everyone out of prison.

urbanwarrior238AND...Today they want to give felons in prison the right to vote! Why, because Republicans stand for 'law and order' which I would think means less REP are in prison. Where as Dems are wanting to flaunt every law, take advantage of what they can and suck off the Govt. teet which means more prisoners will vote DEM. How can people stand for this.

kkinaDefinitely has not always been this way. SF in the 70s was very different than now. When I was a younger man, I had an older friend who used to open-carry a pistol whenever he went to The City. Cops would hassle him, but there wasn't much else they could do because it wasn't technically illegal.
And don't think it can't change again. With all the new legislation, it is now possible to obtain a CCW in San Francisco. A few years ago, an ordinary citizen didn't have a prayer.

No, the shit wasn't everywhere, but it was in some places.
I saw it on a daily basis when I did the San Francisco Civic Center job in 1998, that and piss on the streets and empty hypodermics laying on the sidewalks and in the parks.
It's a lot worse now, but it was around even then.

"It’s absolutely out of control and dangerous — not just for the sex workers but for the community," San Francisco Supervisor Hillary Ronen told the San Francisco Chronicle this week.
She's a fine one to talk, she supported these idiotic laws and the denigration of law enforcement to the point that she now gets to wallow in her efforts. She's so ideologically blind she's unable to connect the dots.

Wiener may become the next governor of the state, not like the governor has a lot of legislative leverage in CA however, it's a high viability position for more ambition. And yes, you're correct, he's ultra-left, attempting to merge his image of a professional gay male, who sounds like a muppet, with far-left, extremist ideology more aligned with the ideas from failed countries.

Yes, this has been made
crystal clear. My point still stands.

It might as well be Anthony Wiener. In California, it appears that one weiner is as good as any.

Really, you give Civic Center as an example?
The only area worse off is the Tenderloin, and BOTH of those areas have been notorious for their squalor and filth....yet, only recently has such grime migrated to other neighborhoods that DID NOT have such issues.

oddballCalifornia continues to race towards the dirty bottom of decay and corruption, with nothing whatsoever stopping it. And yes, it has to hit rock-bottom for a chance to maybe crawl back out of the hole it dug, but even that is debatable.
San Francisco is an absolute shithole now, and the human filth, the modern day street scumbags out there is very different than the past. It is more blatant, more in your-face, just more of IT. Even SF of just ten years ago is a quint, distant memory.

konata88The filth and crime has been coming and going by district for as long as I can remember. Just some areas have been more consistent than others. Some areas have cleaned up well too (relatively speaking - still a cesspool in my mind).
My impression is that, it's not just the spread that is the problem but the level of filth and crime has increased dramatically over the years.
There is NO reason SF couldn't be clean and nice and safe like other major cities around the world. That SF is sick and dying is because of the people (the majority) living there and the people they choose to be in authority.
The filth and crime is not just spreading across all districts, but it's filthier and worse crime than it's ever been.
