“Politics is show business for ugly people.” I think Limbaugh said something like that.

I think he’s right. Many politicians in both parties, once in their positions, are not interested in the good of the country or their constituents as much as they are getting re-elected.

The perks of high office are fantastic and much like being Hollywood famous. Power brings wealth, groupies, fame and access as well as having ones butt constantly kissed.

“Rocking the boat” brings the risk of losing the office, especially if your own party does not want to seek justice.

We’ve seen some outrageous behavior this term. Prosecution of the DC “insurrectionists”, but not the leftist insurrectionists that burned government buildings and attacked police across the country.

No prosecution of Hillary or anybody involved in the Russia-gate lie or Hillary’s offsite computer server. How about the IRS targeting conservative groups?Senate/House kangaroo courts?

If Republicans gain a legislative majority( If they don’t blow it) and in 2 1/2 years the presidency, will they seek justice? How about some federal indictments for prosecutorial misconduct for failure to prosecute known leftist rioters who burned govt buildings? Or indictments of major players of the leftist riots by Antifa and BLM? Or Senate/ House investigations of FBI misbehavior.

Perhaps legislative actions to deprive govt employees of their govt pensions for corruption such as Russia-gate and covering for Hunter Biden?

How about investigating improper behavior of dem senate/House members? Surely there are indictable or censurable violations.

How about appointing some aggressive attorneys from outside govt to the Justice Dept to pursue some of these crimes! Go after the Govt employees who have acted improperly as henchmen for the democratic party.

Whatcha bet the Republican tone will be: “We want to bring America back together!” “Seeking revenge does no one any good”.” We want to heal the country”! “We are not going to seek retribution in the name of justice”! “Let bygones be bygone!”

At the most, some lower level folks may become sacrificial lambs for the higher ups.

Then when the lefties are back in power, the outrageous behavior and Star Chambers crank up again.

So am I being cynical or realistic? Do you think there will be a realistic attempt by elected consevatives to bring justice to those who have abused their power?

One would hope so but many of the whiskey delta Republicans that have been elected for the last 15 years are just a warm body in a seat. Until they stand up to the establishment and don't worry about re-election that its all for naught. Under the founding of our once great nation, elected civil servants were just that....they served and then they went home. Today's elected officials make a travesty of that design.

I'm sure they can't wait to work across the aisle. Roll Eyes

If i wanted someone who will work with democrats, I'd vote for one of those instead.

Yeah there will be hearings that drone on for months and republicans will look lazy and stupid. Republicans will allow dems to seat anyone they want and the left will walk all over them. The left will win the day and hearings will accomplish nothing. Republicans still haven’t learned the lesson why we put Trump in power in the first place. We picked Trump because he fights like a rabid junk yard dog. Republicans will do their thing and in the end they will be as ineffective and irrelevant as always.

Libertarian victories might. Conservative victories will likely lead to more of the same big gov't, lack of justice, continued massive budgets and taxation, and decay of liberty.

There is a chance if the Representatives elect someone other than Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and the Senate elects someone other than Mitch McConnell as majority leader.

It could happen.

Pretty sure HRC will escape by expiration of statute of limitations, even if one of us law and order types were to become POTUS and AG. She's just never going to pay for her crimes beyond not being elected POTUS. I can live with that. She's a bitter old hag, hated by more than half the country who spends her days thinking she's the victim. Kinda wishing her good health and a long life, so she suffers more.

You’re set up kind of answers the question…
We’re not voting our way out of this.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I'd love to see it, but it'll never happen. Politicians of both strips over value failure, and under value victory. You can't fund raise off of a victory. You can raise boat loads off of a problem. That's why problems go on decade after decade in this country. Absolutely no incentive to solve them because people armed only with ideology and all sorts of malware put in their head by almost everything they encounter media wise. As a result the people continue to vote for politicians that hand them failure over and over again.

- You'll hear "Kumbaya" sung to the extent Republicans have bills they want to pass that they think are moderate enough that they should face no resistance from the Dems - who will then try to lard those bills up with Dem priorities - at which point the fighting will commence.

- To the extent vengeance and clearing out the swamp gets in the way of repealing or passing specific legislation, they will be ignored until the legislation is dealt with or clearly will not move. Then the Repubs as a whole will get around to vengeance and maybe a little swamp cleaning and the Dems will swear it's payback or a bid for even greater effective power.

- There will be those calling for vengeance and clearing out the swamp from the beginning of the Congressional session. This will be yet another battlefield between the grass roots and the elites. Look for elitists like Pushing Turtle McConnell to lead the way in belittling the swamp cleaners rather than working with them since (1) the elites want to stay in control of the GOP, (2) the elites want at least some Dems to think they owe them - even though we all know the Dems won't feel any sense of obligation at all, and (3) the elites keep hoping and praying that there's a Moderate Middle among American voters that will finally realize that Republican elites are the only "responsible" politicians they can vote for.

The wild card here is whether or not grass roots Republicans can get enough swamp cleaners elected to either force negotiations on the Republican elites or, better yet, roll over and coopt the Republican elites.

Like I said in another thread, until we have many many MAGA / America First members in Congress and get rid of the current RINO leadership, it will continue to be the Uniparty's smoke and mirror dog and pony show.

But, don't even try to count the chickens before their time.
