Commanders wanted Mims to be flown to the carrier Reagan that day, but “mechanical issues with the transferring helicopter” scrapped those plans.

More troubles there than just personnel, perhaps?

I don't own a cruiser, but if I did I'd probably want one without sludge and with a working chopper.

Bullshit. In this day and age?

Ever been on a tin can and 2,500 miles (in any direction) from land other than one which is 0.5 miles in diameter, 1,000 ft elevation, and no shoreline/ beach?

Somethings are compounded by a commanding officer's actions.

Yes I have.

Then I'm sure you understand just how easy it is to eff with an E- nothing. Wink

I was once directed by a CO to keep someone below decks for a couple weeks. Why? Because her failed to salute said CO on the pier the morning we were getting underway. The young n dumb had his arms full of something (for the ship) and only said good morning vice dropping everything to salute and the CO knew the sailor loved looking at the sky when underway. About drove the kid crazy.
