I've been to the dentist three times in ten years,
they kept hounding me to come in for the over all exam stuff.

Two visits and $286.00 later , she ( the dentist) says that I am doing everything right, no concerns, no recommendations , no nothing.
Razz

So I ask you , what is peace of mind worth ?

how much have you spent at the dentist in ten years ?

When I moved away from my hometown I made it a point to try and go to my dentist whenever I was in visiting family. That turned into not going for about 5 years as my family then moved a county over so it was out of the way to go.

I've now got a dentist locally(1.5 hours away) that I'm back on a 6 month cycle again. Everything is fine accept they want me to floss more.

I go to the dentist every 6 months. I hate going, but it's better than the alternative. I went this past Friday as a matter of fact. I have a small cavity starting new a crown I have. They'll have to replace the crown, estimate is $500. I need to floss more.

Ha! I'm waiting in the dentist's waiting room right now for my 6 month cleaning/check up.

My boys and I go every 6 months and so far I've only had a few cavities and my boys none. I am 44 and my boys are 12 & 13. They may need braces at some point but that's it. I need braces but am too chicken to have them put on.

I go three times a year. I floss every day.

This is after not doing either for sometime, and paying several hundred to fix it.

I had the luxury of paying for my own braces a few years ago, as my parents wouldn't when I was younger, and have-overall-maintained good oral health.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

Be true to your teeth or they'll be false to you.

You don't have to floss/brush all your teeth. Just the ones you want to keep.

I needed periodontal work in my 40s (25years ago) which ran almost $5k. After spending that much, I figured it was time to get my teeth set up right and spent another $4k+ on braces. My parents could never afford them for me. With the lousy dental coverage, I barely could...luckily the orthodontist took payments.

Likely the best $4k I've ever spent on my health...you really don't want periodontal problems when you get older. I'm seeing the dentist 3 times a year

I got my son into braces when he was in junior high and he was out of them in high school when everyone else was having to deal with them...he was very happy

No, Daoism isn't a religion

Ive just bought dental insurance through Ameritas life. 500 a yr and it covered up to 2k a year.
I expect I've spent 5k in 3yrs. An accident laid me up for years a decade ago. I suspect the meds given did something to my teeth. They are cracking.
