I fly radio control planes. Mostly Warbirds and sport jets. Both electric powered and turbine powered.

Collecting duck and goose calls and occasionally decoys. I had a substantial collection 15 yrs or so ago and sold most of it off. Just got back into a year ago after my hiatus. Between fish in and duck hunting, and collecting, I don’t have time for many other hobbies.

Keeping two boys: 7 and 10 from killing each other. They are luckily very active and we don't permit them to just sit and play video games or watch TV in their free time. You have to be outside or in the basement playing or reading or doing something useful. They're keeping this old 52 year old Dad active and alive!

Don't really have time for hobbies otherwise. I do make cakes and cook a lot and like to get out fishing when I can.

Knives--including sharpening for friends/family. I just love taking a dull knife and making it sharp again. Quick story on that: I was in a gunshop that I really like a few months ago. Lady comes in and owner greets her and she asks if he sharpens knives, he quickly says no, that he isn't any good at it. She says ok that she has her dads (he passed a few years ago) hunting knives and they are very dull. I quickly asked if she had them with her and she said yes in the car. I told her to go get them (I have sharpening stuff in my vehicle), 5 minutes later they were both razor sharp and she was happy as could be. Gave me a smile for a week and I'm smiling just thinking about how happy she was.

Volunteer Fire Department--Ok, I retired from running calls 3 years ago (after 31 years) but I'm still a life member and people often turn to for advice on the administrative side. My last office held was head trustee. The trustee's (3 of us) manage the building/grounds, and handle all discipline issues and interpretation/enforcement of the department rules and bylaws.

I'm a big hockey fan and the wife and I usually go to 2-3 NHL games and 4-5 AHL games per year.

Cars-I generally enjoy working on our vehicles. Currently I have nagging interest to upgrade the Coyote (5.0) V8 in my wife's F-150 with a Boss 302 intake. First it would look sick, second it provides more airflow. Yeah I'd need to have a tune done but that's not a big deal.


Things I'd like to do more of:

Fishing--Need to find a fishing buddy. Most guys at the firehouse are all about results and go over the top. Not my kind of fishing. I just enjoy being out and want a peaceful experience.

Learning to speak German (family on both sides have German backgrounds). I really need to find some time to work on this.
