Browsed the couple of threads here and have a few companies to call based upon who you all have suggested. Though I have a couple questions. Called a couple local folks (brokers) and did not like the conversations at all. Both companies wanted about $400 to the broker before pickup and $450 CASH ONLY to the driver. The one company said they would take a credit card for the 1st $400 but it would then cost $189 more because the would then be responsible for liability and any legal fees that might come after delivery. That was the end of that conversation. Then a little later I got a call from the non credit card fee phone number. The fella said he was with a different company name than when I talked to the other guy. I asked how he got the number and he said that I had left a message on their voicemail. Said that I had not and I actually spoke with And got a quote from so and so. He said ohh that guy is new here let me check if his quote was accurate. Said it was the correct quote but had no explanation why he was calling the company something different. So that ended both those ideas. I know I want them bonded and insured. Is there anything else I should look out for?? Seems to be a very interesting industry. This is a downfall of having little kids. No kids my Tundra would have a new brake controller and I’d rent a trailer and have a nice little Florida vacation. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Ask to see their authority and insurance certificates. Then go to: https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/ Go down to the middle of the page and look at the company snapshot. Look at their safety score. You can also use this site to verify if the insurance is valid. This won’t guarantee you won’t hire a bum, but it will help you weed out the worst carriers. People who don’t have their act together usually don’t have high safety scores. Also, look how old their authority is. The older the better. Does it drive? Drive it down and fly back...its only 14 hours...if you get up early enough you could do the whole thing in a day. Or of you're like me and hate dealing with airline BS, rent a u-haul trailer and truck it down yourself, spend the night and drive back. You'll save money, won't have to deal with shady car-haulers, and it'll get you out of the house for a bit. Why not take the wife and kids along? We go about that same distance between home and Pensacola 3-4x a year with 4 kids and a dog...have been doing it since before we even started having kids, so they've done it their whole lives. Usually stop twice for gas enroute, and that's it. Its not that bad, and it's nice to get the family out of the house, especially when the wather starts getting cold and crappy up here in the late fall and winter.

How soon you need it down there? I believe my parents will be going down right after Christmas again this year.

I would love to just rent a trailer and haul it down. All mine are under 7 and in person school 5 days a week so that is not an option right now unfortunately. I miss the days of being able to do whatever I wanted when ever I wanted. Matt, as of right now target date is first weekend of December. Granny had her knee replaced 3 weeks ago and that is when she is supposed to be released to partial PT which she can do in Florida. She is doing well so that is likely a solid weekend. Man, all these shipping brokers just seem shady. May have a line on a friend that may be willing to drive it down as they were planning a trip down anyway. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Consider contacting Applewood Motorcar Transport. I have been using them professionally for more than 10 years. They do the best work IMO, but timing can sometimes be an issue if you are in a hurry. Prices always fair and they use employee drivers. No dealing with a broker. Mostly they transport Lamborghini s and other expensive classic cars. Bruce Hall is the owner and usually he or his wife Judy will answer the phone and be able to assist. www.applewoodmotorcar.com

Keep me in mind if you work out a rented tow vehicle and trailer. U Haul also rents pickups and vans. That is a very nice drive with no mountain ranges to contend with. Be glad to help.
