Does everyone's belts do this?

Every belt I've ever owned has done this on the top at the rear-middle belt loop.

It's it just because it's a cheap belt or will an expensive belt do this, too? Is it because it doesn't fit correctly?

Not quite a divot like that, but they all have a general bend in the back.

Thinking the material being through the belt loops is taking the shape given to it by the belt loops.

That's a, "ahem," lesser quality belt.

Better belts have are cut on angle (with a slight curve) to keep that from happening. Treat yourself to a good leather belt. It makes all the difference in the world.

Caveat: All belts will confirm to your waist over time however the desirability of that is the difference between a good belt, a flexible nylon belt and a dress leather belt. Determine your expectations and buy accordingly.

I don’t believe I’ve ever had a belt deform quite that badly at that spot.

So I guess the "through the fly" or "over the top" question has been answered.

I've honestly never seen anything like that before.

No, not mine. That looks like a thin dress belt. The dress belts I have like yours get worn maybe once ever five years or more and do not have this happen.

My everyday belts are no less than double bridle leather thickness ... and show nothing like this.

I have about 6 years on this 1.5" belt.
Slight divot, but nothing like what you have. Mine's also not permanent, I can push it back out and it will go back to flat, but this is the natural shape it takes when I wear it.

This is the general bend I was referring to:

No, I've never had a belt in that condition. I don't even like the bend that folks are pointing out. If you alternate the direction you wear the belt, you can minimize that curvature that develops.

This has happened to every belt I’ve ever owned. I’m hesitant to buy a $70-$100 belt because it’ll happen to one of those as well. I’m almost willing to bet on it. However, I’m going to try this next: https://www.hanksbelts.com/col...?variant=27408092230

No belt I have owned has ever done anything like that.

Belts do that because that's the way they sit on your body. The belt wants to be high on the hips, but gets pulled down in the rear middle as it adjusts to your body contour, especially if it's just a single belt-loop in the center. The amount varies with the individual's build, from hardly at all to a pronounced divot like you're seeing.

Not as extreme as the OP, but all of mine eventually get similar to 6guns photos, but with a bit more curve.

When I started getting heavier (as in overweight and out-of-shape) my belts started to look the OP's. I'm not saying anything about anyone else, just what I noticed in my life.

This company has come up with a help for the problem:

https://www.abetterbeltusa.com...uto-contouring-belt/

I have two of these belts and while mine still deform somewhat (I'm still overweight), I've found the belts with the pivoting middle section to work quite well.
