Just went to alldatadiy.com, inputted my own car as a "dry run" (I don't know what the OP has) and came up with $19.99 for one month, $59.99 for one year and $129.99 for three years. That's expensive? Sounds like a bargain. The subscription, I gather, is for only one vehicle.

I’ve bought Honda FSM on eBay in PDF for $5-15. I found the FSM for my wife’s Nissan Rogue online for free.

They’re out there. And there are tons of YouTube videos from professionals and DIY that help with most DIY car stuff.

I’m dreaming of the day when I can replace the IMS bearing on my yet unpurchased 2005 911 4S. I’ve watched all the videos and can do it now.

I have never found them useful for anything i was doing. I find them to be very basic and very general.
I always buy the brand specific manuals.
Developed this habit when buying heavy equipment. When equipment was purchased part of negotiations were for parts and shop manuals to be included in the purchase price.

I have a Bentley Service Manual that came with a E53 BMW X5 I picked up. The content matches up well with ALLDATA (I have access to ALLDATA when on campus). It is a bit pricier than Haynes/Chilton ($84 for the X5 one from RockAuto), it contains far more info than you would find in the others.
