Is anybody using hrblock this year? Installed already?

I purchased online using the link and coupon code they send in the mail. The launcher kicks-off but then doesn't seem to do anything. There is no cpu, storage or network traffic. It just seems to freeze. I've tried installing via Win8 compatibility mode running as Admin. Same results. I'm on Win10 Pro.

I haven't had issue installing from CD before; I think this is the first year i've tried installing via download. Not happy. I called support but they hung up citing high call volume.

Is there some trick you guys figured out? If not, I may just bite the bullet and buy TT this year; I figure I'm out the bills I payed for HRB at this point.

Did you buy it direct or via Amazon? If Amazon, the code should be in your invoice/documentation in their download center.

Seems odd they would send the code snail mail - seems there should at least be an email somewhere. Did you check spam?

Oh, I'm a long time TT user. Not pushing TT. I found this year's download clunky. If I had to do it again, I'd ordered the CD from Amazon. Amazon generally has the best price but it's always worth checking around.

They mail this stuff every year to me - looks like a DVD box. But this year, no disk inside. I bought direct online via HRB webpage.

Is there any paperwork in the box? Maybe the code is in the instructions or other documentation.

I use turbo tax but if i were you, I'd contact their customer support first. You paid good money for it.

I just bought the Deluxe + State with Refund Bonus Offer from Amazon, and it downloaded and installed with no issues. $32.99, with 5 free federal efiles.

i bought the software and downloaded their installation launcher. I launch it and it just sits there as an empty window (just a title).

I've called customer support and it hangs up on me - too high call volume. I'll keep trying.

If I can install today, tomorrow I will go to Costco and buy TT and never buy HRB again.

I use HRBlock online, it didn't install anything.

I wasn't aware they even had an offline version.

Read a number of review on Prime for this. Multiple people reporting install issue like me. I'm not gonna waste anymore time w/ this.

I'm wondering if I should stop payment on the CC or just let it go.

I'll go buy TT tomorrow. Hopefully it will have a CD.

DEFINITELY dispute the charge with your credit card issuer.

I used to get the DVD from them but I guess they stopped doing that this year. I just went ahead and downloaded their platform right off Amazon. That was about three or four weeks ago. Super easy and was around $35 bucks. Not that big of a file either, 35 megs if I remember.

Got TT Deluxe. Just curious - why buy via prime and not from hrb directly? Maybe I’ll try via prime next year but sounds dumb that it work for me via prime but not direct from hrb. But if TT works, then I’ll probably stick with TT.

ETA: so far, so good with TT. Installed fine w/o having to do the shit HBR was suggesting (disable firewall, disable virus protection, run in compatibility, run with admin priv, etc). Well, dang, TT installed fine just by double clicking on it from the CD. HBR - how the fuck hard is that to accomplish?

I entered some prelim info and seems to be working fine. Even downloaded my W2 from ADP. So far, so good. My return should be relatively simple this year, most complex thing will be just some ESPP stuff. Oh and the solar credit.

I have a MAC and never had any luck getting HRBlock Taxware downloaded. Had to switch to TT, which has worked well for me.

I'm glad you got it worked out.

Probably not a help, but another data point. I downloaded HR Block Self-Employed/Rental this morning, and it installed fine on my iMac running High Sierra, imported last year's data without a hiccup. Said an update is due in a couple of days, so I will probably wait until the weekend to actually start learning the bad news.
