Turn either one of those into a carnival ride, vertical or horizontal, and you’ve got a barf machine.

Reminds me of a close family relative who once you start them going, they perpetually can't stop talking (trying to prove you wrong) until you either walk away or use duct tape. It's chaotic and Rotten.

I was listening to a Joe Rogen podcast and his guest, Joe Attia, brought up “the pendulum.” He said, “It’s easy to say the pendulum is going to swing the other way, and it probably will, but it’s not a pendulum, it’s a wrecking ball.” He goes on to say, “A pendulum implies this benign little thing that’s going to go back, but it’s not…it’s going to go [crash]![smash]! kill a bunch of people, and ruin a bunch of careers on its way back to equilibrium.”

A different way of viewing “the pendulum,” and IMO, very profound.

I had a college roommate who was obsessed with creating a perpetual motion device. None of his designs were even this unique. He did leave quite a mess on the kitchen table though.

Totally. Prickly heat broke out across my wrists and ankles. Then impending dread washed upon me ...
