Have tried four TVs and finally found a 2019 that worked great for using voice commands, but the screen went blue and kept getting darker so back to a new TV (smart). She does not do apps, has bad hands, and lives in assisted living and they have “residential” cable-all cable comes in to a central point and all the rooms get the same thing with no cable box. Guy at Best Buy said get a Fire Cube and that will allow her to use voice, which it does great for apps, not the cable and it only accepts HDMI hookups, and I need a coax hookup. Any ideas. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Poacher, NRA Life Member "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Teddy Roosevelt

I have a family member who just went through this. She had Dish - at some point, either Dish or Amazon updated something and all functionality for her TVs disappeared. After going around and around, she tried Direct TV streaming - same thing. She is now on Youtube with Sony TVs that have voice control built into the TV. Her husband cannot handle a remote control (he drops them too often). I'm really surprised that there aren't more options. I'd be interested if anyone else has found a solution.

I don’t have any advice but will be following as I can see this happening with my folks, too. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

I was told to get a Super Box which will give you every channel around (except subscription) and work via voice commands. I’m just not sure and would love some confirmation before dropping $350 more on this issue. More than happy to spend it if it will work though! Xfinity cable service comes with a remote that works very well for verbal channel changes. My 90+ year old Mom was very satisfied with the service and the remote they provided.

They only have one provider to the facility, but yes their voice remote works very well. NRA Life Member "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Teddy Roosevelt

In the case I described above, this was the only way to enable voice control WITHOUT needing to touch a remote control. Really not very ADA-compliant in this era.
