Dear Para and all, over here in yUK we are naturally appalled at the riotous assemblies and wanton destruction being carried out over in our sister country in the name of equality or something else, and yes, it's happening over here, too, albeit to a far smaller degree. As with you, an element of the population wants history to be re-written after a period of national grovelling, that is, and hopes to achieve it by destroying the evidence that it ever happened at all.

However, we have nobody over here like Mr Johnson, who wants the American population to stump up $14 Trillion as an 'equalising measure' to make black families financially on an equal footing with white families.

Given that the money would have to be taken across the board from every tax payer, and that, of course, includes those non-whites who are gainfully employed but who are NOT black, how would that ever work?

I recall a clarion call from about 250 years ago - something about 'no taxation without representation', and how that, and a few other important points, started something that resulted in a totally new country on the face of the Earth. An extra $2400 p/a out of the pockets of every ordinary non-black Americans who have a job, as an apology for the past, seems ridiculous to me, and could only end in many, many tears.

The problem with the idea of reparations is if we actually use the logic and moral defense behind this then those wanting the reparations need to get it from the remaining Native Americans because that's who the white folks stole it from and they will have to first give it back.....
