I like eggs benedict. Variants are okay but I prefer just the basic classic version. I like the muffin crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The sauce should be creamy with a not too subtle lemon tang. The bacon should be flavorable and tender with a nice maillard crust. The eggs should be fresh and just lightly poached - just enough to warm the yolk.

Okay, so there's a place nearby that serves a decent benedict. It's an old school kind of place. Benedict rating about a 7 - just barely better than I could make at home but w/o the hassle.

There's a new place where the benedicts are not as good - about 6; I could make it just as well so depends if I want to go through the hassle or not. But, this place has very attractive waitresses. Sounds like a breakfast place during the day and then a bar-ish (full bar) meeting place at night.

Choices.....

Side: nascar was on the tv. If I remember correctly, 3-5MPG? I'm wondering when the woke will have Le Mans, Indy and Nascar convert to EV....

I like a classic eggs benedict, but I recently tried a smoked salmon eggs benedict, and it has become my favorite.

I hardly ever get that....not that I go out for breakfast often at all, but now I'm hungry for some. The very attractive waitress sounds like a nice bonus.

Having spent 4 years in Hawaii I've had my fair share of Bendicts...Eggs that is. Not sure why its so popular there.

Classic is always good, but a Kalua Pork version of a fresh smoked salmon version will always be better. If done correctly.

If I trust the place, and know their sauce isnt out of a can, I'll almost always get the Eggs Benedict.

If you're ever on Oahu, Button Up Cafe in Pearl City is the best on island.

At home I will make a Spam Eggs Benedict from time to time, I am not the biggest fan of English Muffins so I tend to use a nice piece of toasted soft sourdough instead.

So I agree on the crisp but soft bread, I also agree on the Hollandaise, mostly butter with a hint of lemon. I don't like Parsley, but will go for some chives on top.

Some say Eggs Benedict is a good hangover food. Lemme tell you my favorite.

Bowl of fried rice, 2 pieces fried spam, fried potato hash brown Mcdonalds style), runny egg, whatever Hot sauce you fancy.

Yeah, Hawaii made me a fat ass.

I remember when I could eat an order of eggs benedict without gaining three pounds. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. Frown

I envy you!

I absolutely love Eggs Benedict. An old girlfriend turned me on to them long ago and I've never forgotten.

I always get it when I'm in Hawaii and agree with what OttoSig said about its popularity there. However, I never spend any time on Oahu any more except in the airport waiting for connecting flights, and I spend my time on the Big Island of Hawaii.

I recommend the Coffee Shack for Eggs Benedict, a place with an unbelievable view.

Here's about where I usually sit when I eat there:

Love Eggs Benedict. There was a restaurant near me that had an excellent buffet with Eggs Benedict belgian waffles crepes ham bacon sausage links everything you could want for breakfast even serve mimosas and some cranberry version but I can't remember the name.Went there a lot I think it was like $20.00 and I ate my share. They changed locations and when they reopened they eliminated the Eggs Benedict.I've never gone back.

Much as I like smoked salmon, or smoked fish of any kind, I prefer the traditional formula for Eggs Benedict.

If your travels take you to the Daytona area, the Cracked Egg Diner serves both types of Benedict. Everything that I have tried there is excellent. The Cracked Egg is on the west side of A1A, just a minute or two north of Dunlawton (Rte 421).

Have never ordered it or had it anywhere honestly. I'd probably try it but I personally just like fried or scrambled and a occasional omelet.

I get that from a few. But more people (wife) chokes on dry egg yokes. I say let it run. Tasty and toast is a great medium. Still, if it's not for you, walk on by.

Love it! Especially Benedict Chesapeake or Oscar depending on what the restaurant calls it. Regular Benedict with some grilled crab meat on top.

I would like to try benny's in hawaii. Flash - looks like a nice place! In the times, I've been to hawaii to various islands, not once did i see someone eat a benny.

Someday, perhaps a trip to hawaii will be in order. Ocean view benny with a side of french toast hawaiian bread and a mug of kona black. Never been to the big island - one day when the madness becomes tolerable.

I've never had eggs Benedict, so I have to ask (especially having seen Flash LB's second pic): what's the right way to eat that? It looks like a fork-and-knife thing -- as in, "I'd hate to embarrass myself trying to pick one up like a slice of pizza."

Looks delicious, by the way!

Definitely a fork and knife affair. If cooked right entire white is fully cooked and 90%+ of yoke is runny.
