wingsparAm I the only one over the age of 60 that's never purchased a new car ?
I bought my first new vehicle when I was 65. Wanted used, but a two year old Tacoma with 80k miles was selling for $20k with 80k miles. For an extra $5k I bought a brand new one. It wouldn’t surprise me if I could sell it for what I paid for it brand new 12 years ago. I only have 55k miles on it.

.38supersigNever bought a new car. Never made a car payment. At 52, I don't see any reason to start now.
When adjusted for inflation, all of my vehicle purchases ring in at just under $38,000. The rest went to house principal, a Roth IRA, and German Sigs.

darthfusterI have bought new, but until recently it makes more sense to buy three year old cars. First tier used cars have gotten so expensive.

I'm not quite 60 and have never bought a new car. Closest I came was a lease vehicle in 2008, but I gave it back.
for my personal use,
one new 1993 Saturn SL2, ordered it,
one new 2013 Mini Cooper S,
everything else was used or a dealer demo (6000+ miles usually, )
wife has had several new vehicles,

pace40In the 52 years I've owned a car, I've never owned a new one. Never saw the point.

ranger312For the last 12 years I have done quite well buying new pickups and trading them off every 3 years or so with 50-60k miles on them.
I'm pretty sure those days are over.
