Figured I'd post a thread with this project. I've seen a few threads on whether or not to put in pools. I'm 50 and my fiancé and I love hanging out in the pool. She always wanted one and has the means to do it.

This project has had a ton of ups and downs. We live on a small mountain. We have slopes. We've changed directions from retaining walls to not doing a pool due to slope and space.

Then our neighbors decided to bitch about the property line (long story) so we had it surveyed and we gained land. Realizing now we could skip the retaining wall and put in a pool we had to move the shed.

Anyhow, here's the pictures. Lots of twists and turns getting to this point. Any questions feel free to ask.

Before anything was done...

Once we found out retaining wall was too much money we brought in fill to provide access to my shed.

But then we realized the money for a pool was actually available. So we had the pool guy over and decided to move the shed.

Finally had pool installed. Fiberglass.

We thought we were doing stamped concrete. But the contractor was a flake. Crappy quote, no details on drainage and couldn't be bothered to spend time going over details. So we ended up going with pavers. This is making it take a lot longer. But the install is being done correctly. A few small retaining walls, some granite steps and lots of patio space. Should be done in 2 weeks.

LOL probably not. He's an ass. I partly don't blame him. His brother sold all the land next to him and that resulted in 3 new homes where he used to have nothing but forest. So I get his animosity. But he is taking it out on us rather than his brother. Hopefully he gets over it someday.

Nice! Very thoughtful of your neighbors to assay the lot line and offer you some more acreage!

Heck, thats a beautiful property and the pool, retainers and stone work look very nice. Could have saved some money and got the Amish to move that shed.. Big Grin. How many burners on the 39 burner gas grill? Its a very nice property improvement. Enjoy.

Shed's now too far down the hill to be practical. You're definitely gonna need a lifted golf cart to get down and back. And a cart for said golf cart to pull your stuff back and forth. It's a need, really.

Great looking pool. I really love the look of your pool area.

I hope so too. I know you’ve put a lot of time, effort, and $$$ into that house. The pictures you posted when you were finished were fantastic.

Your neighbor is lucky. Your place is probably increasing his property value. His brother could have sold the property to someone who plopped down an old trailer with a couple of rusting cars for lawn ornaments.

Your entire pool area looks great. Good job!

Yeah, that shed is going to receive a ton of water run-off and the slope going to and from is pretty steep. I would move it again. But that may be just me.

Wasn't sure how that would work from the first few shots of that hill.

We love ours, but I definitely have days where I wish we didn't have one (when I spend a few hours cleaning).

90% of the time, though. Worth it.

Luckily, our house already had a pool. I found the invoice in some binders the prior owners left behind (appliance manuals & such), $76k Eek

Looks really sharp. In the picture where the shell is being placed into the hole, what is that giant sand bag like thing on the left?

That is a bladder with 4000 gallon me of water. Since water delivery couldn’t happen same day they have the bladder ready. Fiberglass pool needs water added as backfill is added to prevent any bowing.

The pavers look great.

Now to enclose it so you can use it all year. Retractable walls for summer, hothouse for winter.

Would have liked to have seen the look on their faces when they saw the results of the survey. Did they try to contest it?
