A mother was at home taking care of her two young children when a man began to kick down her door in an attempt to break in.

A mother was taking care of her two young children at her Miami Gardens home in Florida when a man began to kick down her door in an attempt to break in.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, is seen on security footage driving up onto her lawn and knocking on the door. When he gets no response from inside, the man begins to force the door open by kicking it.

The door finally caves in, but the man takes off running back to his car when confronted by the woman who is seen pointing a shotgun at him.

“He was running for his life and he kept looking back making sure I wasn’t going to just shoot him in the back,” the mother said, according to ABC7 eyewitness news.

The woman, who was not identified, said she did not shoot the man because of her children, who she says were crying the whole time. Police have released the security footage in an effort to catch the burglar.
