Check out Southern Draw. The Jacobs Ladder is strong and the Rose of Sharon is weak. The Kudzo and Cederus are fabulous but may still be too strong for your likes. Check into them and see what you think.

Tatuaje is another line that has an extensive variety, but quality cigars.

The H. Upman by A. J. Fernandez is a bang for the buck cigar. Relatively inexpensive, but has some body to it.

I actually just finished an AJ H.Upman this morNing, the last of a 5pack. They are good cigars.

Smoking an Aganorsa Leaf Nicaragua Supreme Leaf that my brother gave me. What a pepper bomb!!! I'm only a quarter inch in and my nose and tongue are quite tingly.

As we in the aviation industry face uncertainty for our future careers, but most CERTAIN furlough at this time, may I take this opportunity to solicit business for a brother who will be among the furloughed (as will I). He and I worked at our former airline together for years and have both been blessed to make it to "the show" in the majors.

Because of the impending furlough, his family Florida-based distillery business has stepped up production and has now branched out into online retail sales. I'm not much of a drinker, so my piddly one-bottle per year purchase would do nothing, but I know we have a number of connoisseurs among us that know their stuff. From what I gather, they distill Rum and Vodka...what I DON'T drink, even if/when I do drink.

Nice stick, burned even, no hot spots, a smooth dark cigar, should have bought a few more.



The second burn for the evening, a TTT Trinidad Espiritu, burn was a bit jagged, several relights, more due to me than the cigar, a lighter smoke than the previous.

Try some Herrera Esteli Maduros and Oliva V Melanios. Two of my favorites. I just snagged a box of the Herrera Esteli's this past weekend at a pretty good price from Small Batch Cigars. They run some pretty good promos consistently.

May I digress a bit from stick-show-and-tell to a question on humidors?

Is there any reason to or not to leave cigars in their wooden cigar box either with/without the wrappers?

I have a winador and have been leaving them in the box mostly.

No reason as long as Coolidor/humidor has a good seal and you can control the rh.

They are stored in boxes in humidified warehouses and on shelves in your local stores. There is no issue in storing them the same way in your humidor. If I had a tower of power or an aging humidor, they would stay in their boxes too. Most humidors we have are too small for the boxes and therefore single sticks are in them.

I'm closer to jumping into the cigar smoking hobby.

I would look for something similar to this if you are new to cigars. It has a nice variety so you can see what you like and dislike. Take notes while you smoke each one and look into what tobacco's are used in each one you like. You can then narrow your search down to similar cigars and try those.

If you do not have a humidor, grab a tupperware container or similar that seals and a Boveda pack of 69rh and put that in with the cigars to keep them humidified.

As Ronin said, read through this thread and you will learn A LOT in a short amount of time.

Ordered a humidor, some humidor packs, torch lighter and cutter. They will be here next week. Going to research cigars in the meantime, will likely go to a local shop to see what they have.

Scored a box of one of my all time favorites at my favorite local shop today. La Imperiosa from Crowned Heads. I was getting these pretty regularly a couple years ago and then the supply dried up. Found some at their store over the summer and asked if they could get me a box. Looking forward to having one after a couple weeks in the humidor.

Saturday night cigar and beverage tonight here at the farm is one of the aforementioned La Imperiosa's (not from the fresh box. Last one I had in the humidor before procuring more so it's had time to rest. Beverage is a founders Backwoods Bastard cellared since 2015. the two compliment each other nicely.
