Does anybody really think that would have been depicted in a 1950s movie that is supposed to be entertaining and suitable for all audiences? I think a small deviation can be forgiven.

Jewish people waiting said "Moses 12 is too many, go back and re-negotiate with God and get the number down" Moses goes up the mountain and returns and says "Good news and bad news ... First the good news. I got God down to 10. Now the bad news, adultery is still in."
