I, and everyone on the planet by now, know about the silly commercials. What I'm looking for is actual experience with their customer service, preferably with their handling of claims (not that I've made one for many years). The credit union I belong to is partnering with them for a discount. I got a quote online for coverage comparable to my current GEICO policy that I've had almost 13 years. There is a modest savings amounting to ~$30 for 6 months.

Tried to fuck me when a h1b visa holder (their client) deliberately ran into me by swerving across 3 lanes and slamming on his brakes. Weird deal; I was driving a dealer loaner vehicle which was a brand-new Porsche Macan. Cop understood perfectly. I literally laughed out loud when I found out his insurance was Liberty bibberty … Limu! Took some time, but I was willing to go to war. My last claim with them was 9 years ago, it was a major claim, two vehicles totaled, two life flighted, other injuries. I don't think it could have been handled any better than Liberty Mutual did. We used to have one person we dealt with but that's changed, I liked the one person better. We have them with 3 vehicles and our home, so far their rates have been competitive. ________________________________ "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

If they have a paid spokesperson or actor, you will be paying for that expensive advertising with your premium. I suggest trying insurance brokers that shop them all for the best rate. Stay FAR away from USAA. Today I finally received my recoverable depreciation on a Fall 2020 hail damage claim (>$64k). Assessor from Alacrity was outstanding but the adjusters from USAA were wholly incompetent. Started out with them wanting to only replace the *vinyl* siding planks on two elevations that had actual damage with my being told to paint them to match the discontinued color of my existing siding. Then we had to get a windows expert to convince them that high grade exterior metal framed windows had to be completely replaced as you can't just replace the heavily dimpled hail damaged frames. There is much more but you get the idea. Lastly over 5 months trying to get them to release recoverable depreciation. As soon as I approve quotes from American Family, the house and cars are leaving USAA. I have been a loyal member for 47 years. They are not even a shadow of their former outstanding selves. Wouldn't recommend them to my worse enemy. *edited to clarify siding materialThis message has been edited. So not with Liberty Mutual, but they own SafeCo insurance (where I did have a policy) and a lot of stuff gets cross branded. Or at least in my case. Last July, I had a minor incident. Kid made a left turn into my lane and I didn’t see him for a tractor trailer to my left (3 lane street). Short story is he didn’t have insurance, heck he didn’t even have a valid driver’s license. Called the Dallas police department and waited 4 hours without them showing up. I managed to get contact information from the kid and told him my insurance would be in touch. Called the agent, who just gave me the number to the claims department. Things went down hill from there. It ended up taking 2 months to repair the car, in that time the adjuster (works for Liberty) had to be fed information repeatedly. I don’t think he ever wrote anything down. He failed to do much of anything except arrange for a rental (lasted 30 days, then they cut me off). Failed to suggest a repair shop that could prioritize the repairs and then whined because the shop I selected was taking too long. I moved to Progressive nd cut my yearly premium by $700+. Now as long as I can run without another incident (the last one was 45+ years ago), I should be good. ———- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup.

Terrible insurance company IMO. Had them for years, but when we had a serious accident, involving a jogger, which was CLEARLY not our fault, they did everything they could to cover their ass. Now I am not naïve enough to not know that an insurance company's first move is to deny, but they specialize in duck and cover. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Had them for years for both house and cars(with underage drivers). Always good service, but relentless premium bumps every year. Finally told them to fo when I was side swiped by a “kid” with zero insurance. Yeah, I paid the whole freight. He showed proof of insurance and had his citation dismissed. Welcome to the car insurance game in Michigan. Anyways, State Farm for everything now at much less $. "The days are stacked against what we think we are." Jim Harrison

No experience with Liberty. However, I can tell you I have been with an insurer for no more than 2 years since about 2010. I started shopping around back then and realized I had been getting screwed by Grange Mutual for over 20 years. I cut my rate by 40% by shopping around. Now my insurance is thru the roof regardless of where I go because I have 2 kids under the age of 20 driving. Best advice I can give, definitely shop around yourself or find an insurance broker. I switched to the later and it has been very easy and painless. ---------- “Nobody can ever take your integrity away from you. Only you can give up your integrity.” H. Norman Schwarzkopf

You have a history with Geico and if it were me, I wouldn't even consider changing for $30.00/6 months. And I have Geico for my cars.

Lawyers, Guns and Money |
Not recently, but yes. Way back when, in the late 80's I worked for them. I was in law school and I worked as an intern in the St. Louis Legal department. It was one floor above the claims department, as you can imagine. My boss was a great lawyer and ran the department very well. They were pretty fair in how they treated their policy holders and other claimants. At that time, I signed on for auto insurance and when I bought my first house homeowners insurance. All was well, for at least a decade but the company slowly changed as they rolled out national advertising and then bought Safeco (which also used to be a great company). Then I had a homeowners claim and got jacked around a bit. Then my rates went through the roof. Then I started shopping around. I switched to Farmers and I've been happy. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Same here...Geico is very good. My daughter was stopped at a red light got clipped by a school bus turning left in front of her. Cops called, report filed. Bitch bus driver later changes her story and lies saying daughter hit her (even the physical evident proves this is impossible plus there is the stoplight cam footage to consider) and school district wont honor the claim. Geico adjuster tells my daughter "Dont worry, we have lots of lawyers. Plus I had LiMu a few years back until they started cranking up their rates like State Farm did...been with Geico ever since.

I had one experience with Liberty. Sort of a Catch-22 thing. I bought my first airplane in partnership with a co-worker, ex Navy pilot. All of his vehicle and homeowner insurance was with Liberty, so he got a good rate for the airplane. I took a job in Puerto Rico, bought out the partner's share, and flew down there. When insurance renewal time rolled around, Liberty declined to renew. I asked why, they told me that they normally do not insure aircraft unless the customer has other insurance with Liberty, such as car or homeowner. I told them fine, let's do some car insurance. Nope, they replied that they did not write vehicle insurance in Puerto Rico. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Used to have GEICO. After how they treated my wife in an accident that was plainly not her fault I never will have GEICO in the future. _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. I'm leaning in that direction. For that modest savings, it sounds like a case of "better the devil you know. "

Your best feedback is from body shops, restoration companies, and/or local contractors. These are the people who have contacts with multiple carrier’s claim process. Ask them which has the better claim service.

We were with LM for almost 25 years. Cars, Home, and a blanket liability policy. We had 2 claims in 25 years. We got an annual renewal notice a few years ago with an across the board 30% increase, along with a note that said this increase exceeded the NC Department of Insurance, allowable annual increase. We called them and were told it is what it is. We changed and never looked back. We found the same insurance with Farmers for 30% less than we had been paying. Our two LM claims we handled perfectly and quickly.

I had Libbity Bibbity some years back...maybe 5 years ago?...and was THOROUGHLY disappointed with 1) the fact they just raised my premium almost 50% with NO justification whatsoever except that "they can" and, 2) the agent I had went RADIO SILENT. I coulda been smashed to pieces and she wouldn't have called me back. If there's one way to get on my shit-list FAST, that's it...become NON-RESPONSIVE. So I dumped them and went to Safeco, not knowing they were a subsidiary of Libbity Asinine. But the price was right and I never had any issues with them. Good luck!
