Be fun to do in a video game, not sure I have the stomach to try in real life.

Damn. That is insane. Seems like the roads in China are either dangerously overcrowded or like this. Do they have normal streets? Big Grin

I can't watch a Ken Block video without thinking about The Grand Tour Farmkhana segment with Jeremy Clarkson and not laughing my ass off.

Link to original video: https://youtu.be/YbW1CnThwoA

And then the actual making of the film. The sheep bit was hilarious. https://vimeo.com/250341742

And here is Ken Block himself commenting on Farmkhana:

Ken is a pretty impressive stunt driver. I definitely enjoy the franchise of videos he has made. That said Gymkhana 1 is still my favorite.

Quick quiz. How many GoPro's do you think were used in the filming of this? I counted 7 cameras on the truck alone.

Block is an incredibly talented driver, but consider this. When he tried his hand at World Rally, he never won a single race that I can remember. Just tells you how incredibly talented the best World Rally drivers are.

His car control is crazy good so I'm sure his confidence is high but you could still have a mechanical failure and on that road it could be the end. in a lot of places.

He had a pretty good career going until he found out youtube videos paid so well.

Rally career
Rallies 70
Rally wins 13
Rally podiums 22
Class wins 13
Class podiums 22
Win percentage 18.6%
Podium percentage 31.4%

Rallycross highlights

2015 1st Global Rallycross Championship
2014 2nd Global Rallycross Championship
2013 3rd Global Rallycross Championship
2012 2nd X Games - RallyCross

Can you provide a link or links to that info? I was totally unaware that Block had seen even that measure of success in World Rally.

And you're right in that YouTube has made Block far more popular than he'd ever have been, even if he'd have been the number one rally driver year after year.

Not a good comparison. A rally driver is a race drive, that takes very precise directions from a co-driver. It takes an incredible measure of skill, awareness, ability to be a rally cross driver.

Ken is a stunt driver. He has some rally experience and started off with the Subaru, and Festiva. But those cars were built for stunt driving, not rally cross driving. He has had a drift stick (long e-brake handle) in every car. The cars that he rally crossed, were built for rally cross. He’s a far better stunt driver than he is a rally cross driver.

I’m not trying to say one is better or more difficult than the other. They’re just different sports. It’s like comparing football and baseball. Both played on grass with a ball. The athletes are amazing. But they’re not even the same sport.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.
