New motorcycle day. Kawasaki KLR 650

NframeNew motorcycle day. Kawasaki KLR 650
I had a 2015 Yamaha FJ-09. Such a nice bike but my uses changed with some off pavement stuff. So the trade happened.
The KLR is brand new. Put 75 mile on so far. It’s like driving a 2 wheeled tractor. Good torque and gets to 75 easy enough without seeming like it wants to kill me like the FJ-09 was willing to do.
That FJ could get up and scream.

PHPaulNice!
I'm still lovin' my '16 FJ, but yeah, she has the ability to do you serious harm if your right wrist overcomes your sense of self preservation...

StorminNorminNice bike! I had a KLR 650 probably back in 1989 or 1990. Great bike.

topherhNice ride. I'm jealous. Had a '97 KLR 250 and always dreamed of having it's big brother. One of these days.

126911Congrats on a bulletproof bike. Time proven with TONS of accessories to spend your Sig money on. Only problem with the KLR is it is tall. AfricanTwin has the same issue for a 5’8 guy like me. Keep the tire side down.

the_sandman_454That should serve you well. I'm coming up on 40,000 miles on my carb fed 2009 KLR650.
Keep an ear out for chain rattle in the left engine case adjusting the counterbalancer chain tensioning system ("doohickey") won't resolve. Likely a sign of a weak adjustment spring, which has been a thing in these since 2008. Mine ran out of tension around 6,000 miles.
The great news is this is a well known, cheap, easy fix, and can be done concurrent with an oil change since you'll have to pull the left engine case, which is surprisingly really easy.
Happy new bike day!

P250UA5Congrats
I had some brief seat time on an older KLR250, surprisingly peppy for a 250cc thumper.
Stalled it at a light & it was kick start only, made for a bit of fumbling & liberal throttle application.
