Instagram Dude Falsely Claims Red Flag
Link to Original Story

For those who were fortunate enough to miss it: Last night a popular social media type dude started broadcasting his victimhood at the hands of "oathbreakers,"- all because they heard he had a 30-round magazine in his home according to him. Many social media influencers called their followers to arms. Those people flooded the local department with calls and some are said to go as far as show up at the scene and harass the cops. As it turns out, the guy was wanted for a domestic violence incident. I tuned into his 'gram to see him ranting like a lunatic. How would anyone jump to such a conclusion with little or no information based on this guy's words alone? Confirmation bias?

Police say a man facing charges in a domestic incident barricaded himself inside his home in Carmel Saturday, causing a seven-hour standoff. They say it started around 2 p.m. when an officer went to speak with 28-year-old Alexander Booth at his home on Putnam Drive about an incident involving his wife. The officer says they heard what believed to be a gunshot and requested backup when Booth barricaded himself. The Town of Carmel Police Department, The Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety's special response and negotiation team responded to the standoff. Officials say social media posts from Booth started going viral during the standoff, which led to a flood of phone calls and messages over the incident. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the calls shut down its ability to communicate with the community. Police say it came to a peaceful resolution around 9:30 p.m. when Booth surrendered himself to police. He was arrested and is facing charges related to a previous domestic incident, including burglary, criminal trespass, criminal contempt, aggravated harassment and petit larceny. Police say they did not recover any weapons or ammunition from Booth's home and believe no one was injured.

I don't follow social media beyond this board, but I do understand that millions get their information from what other people post online and want to be a part of it, actual facts be damned.

If the above doesn't explain it, I don't know what will.

Short version:
Dude gets on social media says he is surrounded by cops in his house in NY state because they found out he had a 30 rd magazine. He posted a picture in what looks like body armor and says he will go down shooting.

Social media (especially the gun community) loses it's collective shit.

Dude was a poser and it had nothing to do with a 30 round mag, rather burglary and larceny. Dude gives up without a peep.

I’ve long said you should be required to pass a universal back ground check each time you hit post now, and an internet connection should require a $200 tax stamp.

I would have thought the police would find beau coup guns but it appears that wasn't the case.

I'm guessing this was that "Whiskey Warrior" or somesuch. A friend on FB shared a Colion Noir post about it. I Googled the guy, found some Youtube videos from earlier in the day. Seemed more "Whiskey" than "Warrior". Was calling the cops "pigs" and "Redcoats".

Is that louis vuitton body armor?

A better thread title would be, "Man falsely accuses police of taking action against him. Police sought domestic abuse suspect not high capacity magazine owner as accused suggested."

It won’t keep you from getting shot but you’ll look great doing it.

In disappointing news, Colion Nior's FB comments read like an ANTIFA circle jerk. Multiple posters calling for the murder of police officers based upon this guy's instagram feed. Calling police officers "red coats". Anyone who refuses to side with this guy is a "boot licker". Lots of "Just Following Orders" phrasing. It is insane to say the least.

mrgunsandgear Yeager'd himself last night when he called for people to go to the scene and murder police officers, calling them "traitors", if the screen shot of his social media I saw is true.

I don't have a dog in the race, but I'll be damned if I'm going to make any life choices, to include calling for the murder of civilian police officers, off of some choad's social media. Not smart.

Colion’s reaction was disappointing. I find it flat terrifying what people are willing to post on social media. Imagine what they don’t say publicly?

Total cluster. Some respectable members of the gun community made fools of themselves, and to anyone outside the gun community, just gave them strong arguments for red flag laws to save society from the “gun nuts”. Sigh.
