It happened a few days ago. Again. Someone on another forum brought up the efficacy of a .380 for personal defense. I indicated my advocacy but had given up the one I was using, due to divorce.

So, yesterday I went on a quest to acquire one. I went to my favorite LGS, with the intention of just shopping and comparing other brands/models at other shops in town.

Cory showed me several models and I was about to thank him and be on my way. He took a P238 Spartan out of the case and handed it to me.

I asked him if it was used. It looked like it had been carried a few years. He said no, that's the way they're manufactured. I guess it's kind of like the new, ripped up jeans they sell these days.

I was going to hand it back to him but asked if I could dry fire it. It's got the best slide and trigger I've felt in a long time...I need to get this baby registered!!!

What is this "registered" you speak?

Also, welcome to the forum. This thread, though, would probably be better suited in the "Pistol" section.

But, to your thread, SigForum has sold many a person in Glock's, HK's, etc. Several in the .380 caliber. For me, the G42 is a great .380 pistol, but nothing beats the 230/232.

If you like the 238... Pick up a 938, it shoots real 9mm ammo and is almost the same size.

No you don't.

Utah does not registration of firearms.

I just got back from the local Rural King and I was talking to the counter guy. He said .380 is their hottest selling caliber right now. Personally I don’t get it.

More expensive to shoot while being less effective.

They had 9mm for $8.78 a box and .380 was $12.75.

I think many buyers in recent years have been first time gun owners. They don’t research the subject much and think smaller is easier to shoot.

Any particular reason you found it necessary to mention another forum specifically?

Just because it was pertinent. I don't get the "Thou shalt not speak other forums names" vibe.

I also purchased my P224 because of another (different) forum member crowing about his. I love mine but want the added versatility of a smaller platform.

I've got my P224 .40, which I also carry regularly. I have to say, the recoil spring on the 938 is a bugger though!

Not sure how long you've owned firearms in Utah but registration is NOT part of the equation.

You did it again.

There's no "vibe". Over the course of the last two decades an etiquette has been developed in the online gun community, and one of the particulars is that it's poor form to mention other forums specifically, especially when there is no compelling need, and not without the permission of forum administration.

You could have said "another forum" and that would have sufficed.

You meant no harm, I'm sure. You simply were not aware of this, but now you are, so I'm certain it won't again be an issue.

I've found it very helpful, especially with my P224, to register my weapons with the manufacturer. I had to send my P224 back because it wouldn't go into full battery (after firing), when I first acquired it. I bought it off of gunbroker as "new old stock". The service rep asked me about it but had me return the gun to the factory. Free of charge. It's shot perfect ever since

A warranty registration. Got it.

Forgive us. Normally the words "gun" and "registration" don't belong in the same sentence.

My appologies Mr BuckRogers. I was thinking registering with state, city, or county. I hope things are going well in the Cache Valley. I went to USU and absolutely loved my time there.
