When I saw this title, my first thought. Realize they aren't some massive game changer, but they were a nice upgrade and for some reason I just enjoyed how really well made they are.

Cheap military surplus rifles.

I first got into the milsurp game in the early to mid 2000s, right at the tail end of the "good old days" but decades past the "really good old days". Luckily, prices were still pretty reasonable through about the early 2010s, which allowed me to obtain a small collection at fair prices before overseas supplies finally dried up and the market went off the rails.
