At just around 22:48 the guy on the right says:

I've searched and searched and can find no word or acronym that sounds like "ticks" that would seem to apply in this context.

Anybody have any idea what that means?

He answered it immediately after using the acronym: TICs = Troops in Contact.

It should be “TIC” for troops in contact.

A report of verified contact with the enemy.

So this guy’s saying use you recon assets as opposed to just wondering around until you get into a TIC.

“Movement to contact” is a formal infantry operation type where you literally do just that. You think the enemy is that direction so you head that way until you get into a fight. This would be done only if you think you have superior numbers and or support assets, air, artillery etc. Or your officers are idiots.
