Moving from AZ to upstate SC.
Have a blink system here. Ok. pics are not great.
Reliant on internet, that goes out a lot. Fenced and gated. 8 pound dachshund that would rip you to shreds and and bark a lot.

Smaller property and no fence.

Is that simply safe thing worth it or should I just jump to adt/local service?

Don't know about Simply Safe, but have you seen the ads about the light bulb camera?

SimpliSafe has been our home alarm provider for two years now. Everything works as it should. Installation was very easy. Monitoring is quick and on-point.
Their app is really great for controlling and/or changing things quickly.
Highly recommend.

We've had Simplisafe for the last 6 years and have been very happy with it. It uses the internet for primary communication and cellular for backup. We live on Lake Michigan and cell phone signal is lacking to say the least. We did have to swap out the module to have a reliable signal, but it wasn't much trouble at all.

Brother had it for a few years now, relatively happy. He said he'd do Ring if he has to do it over. I have Ring and been relatively happy as well. Relatively because I had 1 window contact sensor (2nd gen) went out. It was going thru batteries like no tomorrow. Ring replaced it under warranty.

Yes, and their customer service is top notch.

We got one when my now wife, at the time girlfriend, moved in. I never had an alarm system cause I'm my own alarm. But she had one in her house she sold when she moved in, and wanted one for the times I wasn't home.

So we got one... It was easy to install, and worked well.

Well flashing forward 4 years later, our keypad failed, and stopped working.

We called them and were going to just buy a new keypad. They told us that the new model didn't work with the old stuff (sensors, base unit, smoke detector, water detector, etc) and they gave us a new keypad and EVERYTHING WE ALREADY HAD for free under the lifetime warranty.

They replaced EVERYTHING for us, sending us a new version of every single part of the system we bought 4 years ago, for the price of $0.00.

And per month, they are less than half the price of companies like ADT. And you can get indoor/outdoor cameras that you can watch in real time.

Can't say enough good things about them.

Won't work... all the inbred rednecks here have figured out how to get around it.... also you will find the weather is terrible... if it's not 110 degrees and 98% humidity then it's cold and raining... also the traffic and roads are terrible.... pot holes every where..... crime is rampant since most yankees have moved down here... stay where you are please!

But the dachshund is more than welcome. :-)

Believe me, I want to!
I suspect the same thing is happening there as is here with the CA immigrants.

In all seriousness, SC and MS are the only two states, TMK, where rural areas are high crime, with lots of violence.

It is something to remember.

Also, the court systems are very pro-felon.

Actually, I hope y'all realize I was making a joke. We in the city of Greenville are starting to have a little bit of a problem... too many people packed into too small of a space... but I don't really think we have a high crime rate. I remembered this post because I was at a home today working and the TV was on and there was a Simply Safe add.. which kind of looked like they at SS could watch you at home through their camera system... I presume this is not so unless you activate it for them but was kind of curious about that.

oh and just to pick on Aglifter... I don't consider Myrtle Beach part of S.C.... that is a separate country in itself.

Mike56...there are some pretty good gun ranges and clubs here too... and I go to a Ruger fan gathering every Oct just over the boarder in N.C. They even let me bring and shoot my Sigs.

Customer service = good.

You can be disappointed by hardware. Unknown to you your camera or keypad or sensor might not be ideal. For example, the outdoor camera might eat the battery. The solar charger may not keep it charged up. But, in time, they figure it out. It can be aggravating. But, my outdoor camera finally just works.

They have continued to evolve with important system stuff. For example, reaching the call center to cancel an alarm. Used to be that you would just get in line with all the other callers. Now, they have prioritized the alarm canceller calls, and also added direct to you texts that you can respond to with easy C to cancel commands. So, again, you may not be happy at first, but in time, they make things better.

The door lock is hopefully better now. Mine is still a challenge. If you use the keypad to open it, you have to enter your PIN about six times. But, if you use the iPhone app, you can just touch unlock and it unlocks. You get what you need, with your phone, but the keypad is balky. Not sure why. Not sure what to do to fix it.

In general, I find my Simplisafe system all that I could ever need.

The Simply Safe camera that we received as part of the package deal requires an internet connection. We to required a different cellular module to get a good connection. We have four of them and haven’t had any issues.

I take that back, when we got to our vacation this past summer, the batteries (regular AA) in the keypad were dead and we couldn’t shut the alarm off until we replaced them. They couldn’t shut it off remotely because we don’t have internet there. Not a big deal.

Very happy with SimpliSafe for 10+ years now.

Easy to install, affordable, and it just works. As noted, CS is excellent. I’ve had them replace a couple of defective bits (cell antenna and a sensor is all the whole time I’ve had the system) no questions asked and quickly.

In the interest of not having all of my security eggs in one basket, I use Arlo cameras and Schlage smart locks, so I can’t comment on those.
