So our new place is wired for both coax cable and Cat 6 internet cable. Had fiber optic installed at the central box. Now have wireless access via their router. Tech said if I wanted hard wire access in the rooms that have them come back and do some additional work at the room end. So the Cat 6 is hooked up at the wall plate. What else are they needing to do there? I know for a fact that they told me they will need access to them. Scheduled for Tuesday but not understanding exactly what they will be doing. I can understand having to do additional connections on the router end.

I am not an "expert" but, I can't imagine anything more than making sure they work. “Let us dare to read, think, speak and write.” John Adams

If the modem/router/AP has a LAN port (most likely does) then connect to switch and connect your other Cat6 connections to the same switch. It should already have DHCP enabled and you will be GTG.

Yep, that's what we did, although there are only a couple of hard wired items in the office, everything else is wifi'd
