Can y'all recommend a brand of good screwdrivers that don't smell like puke after a few years.
My old Craftsman set stink to high heaven every time I open the drawer.
Thank you..

Not cheap, but the best there is IMHO.

ZSMICHAELYou know so do my plastic handled Crafstman. I thought I had done something wrong. The ones in the open area do not seem to smell. My Grace screwdrivers with wooden handles smell okay.
I am curious if there is a way to remove the odor?????

It may be the drawer liner that sticks as it decomposes. I've got a bag of brand-new Craftsman screwdrivers I occasionally dip within. They all have the new-tool smell, stored in a metal drawer. Some are within an open padded envelope, and look/smell brand new but are a decade+ old.

Nah. Mine are in original plastic cut out with different shapes for the screwdrivers. Strong puke smell.

MikeinNCIt’s the plastic, mine stink too, got them in 1991, craftsman.
I also have a set of gunsmithing screwdriver and bits from brownells and it’s the second best tool I have.

two-two-niner-romeoMaybe someone puked in your toolbox.

Just kidding. I have been using Snap-On for over 25 years. Never had an issue with odors from my tools.

hrcjonI think wiha is the best price performance of the bunch. However for real work I still prefer snapon but if you are doing ok on craftsman you will be really really happy with wiha. On amazon.

honestlouI like these screwdrivers from Felo better than the Wiha, or any others I've had for that matter. Wiha certainly are quality, but I like these the best, and they're not crazy expensive:

Vodka and Milk of Magnesia, if you want a Phillips screwdriver.
Or, vodka and prune juice for a pile driver.

egregoreMayhew Catspaw. You can get them from Amazon, as well as tooltopia.com. Uniquely (AFAIK), the steel extends all the way through the handle to form a striking cap. Let's face it, how often do you use flat-blade screwdrivers as pry bars, punches and chisels? Frankly, for many jobs, they work better than
actual pry bars, punches and chisels. The Phillips tips are very tight-fitting, needed when you have a stubborn one.

mark123When tool handles made of Cellulose Acetate Butyrate break down it produces Butyric Acid. Butyric acid gives vomit its distinctive odor.
Wiha is good stuff.

BDA220Wiha for me anymore. I bought a set last year and love them!
Great tips that won't cam out, really great handles that allow for real torque comfortably. And easy on the slowly creeping arthritis in the hands!

gjgalliganI have Craftsman tools, including screwdrivers, that I bought in the 70s.
Mine doesn't seem to have any odor to them.
I have to think something else, like the liner, is the cause.

OldriderIf you guys are sniffing your tools, you don't have anything to use them on, LOL!

GreymannGet a set of "Bahco" screwdrivers, the best in my opinion. Bahco is also the manufacturer of "Snapon" screwdrivers.
