This is the latest project from the shop. Another antique restoration for the October Marketplace we’re participating in.
This is an Enterprise Press for sausage & lard. Was a bit of a rusty mess when I bought it 8yrs ago but it came apart & cleaned up nicely. Paint is an antiqued bronze instead of the usual black which I’m not a fan of.
My wife & I are starting to sell my items and her cottage bakery items at local marketplace, popup shops & craft shows.
Starting small as a fun retirement gig.
She retires in 3yrs & is ready to start recovering her state pension as well.
So we should have lots of time to play at this.
I’m currently in the process of buying the property next to ours for my blacksmith shop which is a little exciting!
Hopefully more to come when that gets into full swing.

Funny you mention that. My wife already has it in a room in our house.
It’ll be up for sale at our booth in October but I doubt it’ll sell.
They’re not cheap even in rusted condition in our area.
I have a feeling it’ll wind up serving as an “attention getter” item for the booth.

Excellent restoration. I like the finish you chose, and the letting was a nice touch.

You fill that container with a mix of ground meat and spices, and rolls sausage casing over the spigot at the bottom. The lid goes on, and you turn the wheel, which cranks the lid down, squeezing the meat together and out the spigot into the sausage casing.

You load the chopped meat & spices in from the top.
Crank the handle to press the contents to the bottom & out the bottom spout where the sausage casing is attached.
Filling the casings & making sausage.
* the photo isn’t accurate. There is a cone attachment that screws onto the bottom spout that the casings roll onto & fill from.
But it get the idea across.







Big difference from today’s presses.

It presses sausage.

It puts the sausage into the casing for links

That's pretty cool Grumpy. I've got my grandmother's old butter churn from the '20s with a similar sprocket mechanism. Back when things were made to last.

If you want to sell that, you should post your series of pictures on Instagram and say it's for sale. Broaden your potential customer base. It would have been even better if you had filmed the restoration and posted the video on YouTube.

I’d like to have one of those sausage press operators.

You know the kinds of things that can fall into an industrial sausage press? Not excluding rodent hairs and bug excrement.

My neighbor has the electric motorized LEM 30 pound sausage stuffer.
I have used it, and the attached accessory foot switch which frees up both hands for handling & twisting the links as they are filled.
It is the Cadillac of sausage stuffers!

By the time you purchase the large LEM meat grinder, the large mixing tub that is an attachment for the LEM grinder, and finally the LEM electric sausage stuffer, You will be near $3000.

And like Pipe Smoker with his request for the white coated sausage stuffer operator, I believe I would like one also. Maybe two!
