The cheap ass academy brand has been great for me. All the name brands have something that annoys me (besides the price). These are light, but not weak. soft/breathable but not shiny & loud, etc.

I like the Target brand, they're around $15 a pair. For gym shorts, I like to go a little cheaper because I can be hard on them. I'll buy 5-6 pairs and rotate them. If they get beat up/torn up, no worries at that price point. I think they're called C9 or something like that. Relatively cheap and quite comfortable. I like my workout shorts shorter than most guys like them, though. Not a fan of the knee length shorts. _____________

There are so many good quality yet affordable options these days. There's no reason why you need to spend a lot on gym shorts, unless you feel better repping certain brands. I have a lot of big name brand and less expensive house-brand athletic apparel. Price and brand haven't been a good predictor of which ones work(ed) best for me. They all make some good and some mediocre stuff. Academy - BCG is their house brand for general workout gear. Target - Champion C9 is their house brand. Walmart - Russell Athletic is their better line of house brand. I would probably avoid Walmart's Athletic Works line. Old Navy - ON Active is their athletic line. Costco - 32 Degrees is I believe their house brand. I've never seen it elsewhere. They often have good deals on name brand athletic apparel. Right now they have adidas moisture-wicking workout shorts for $12.99 (SKU 1364733). On top of that, those big box stores often have sales and markdowns. You can easily find good shorts for under $15. If you have problems w/ material bunching up, I suggest getting shorts that use two layers of material instead of one. Single layer shorts feel more like underwear.

Have you tried the Richard Simmons brand? ![]() Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. "If dogs don't go to Heaven, I want to go where they go" Will Rogers The definition of the words we used, carry a meaning of their own...

It depends if you want to look stylish or not. Just going to work out, any old pair will do. If looking for a date, ratchet it up some. It could be like going to the ski hill or even snowmobiling, ‘dress for success’. I buddy recently got into snowmobiling with his wife. They don’t go that far, but spent well over $500 to look good on the trail.
