Rule #1: Use enough gun |
I use Google Chrome on all my computers. On my desktop at work, something has changed. When I open a new tab in Chrome, it has always shown 8 of my frequently visited websites (like Sig forum) on the new tab page. Beginning last week, none of those sites appear on new tab pages. In fact, NO sites appear on new tab pages. I have looked at the settings, but I do not see anything that seems to correct the problem. On a related note, my laptop at home used to show 8 frequently visited sites on a new tab page, but now only shows 4. Has anyone else had this happen with Chrome? Any suggestions for a fix? Might be a problem Extension, you could try disabling your Extensions and see if the Most Visited sites show up. ...let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. 1) Are you signed in on all Chromes? I know with my comptuers, my frequently visited pages are not available unless I've signed in (to do so: click on the vertical 3-dot line on top right hand corner of Chrome -> Settings -> People -> Sign in to Chrome. 2) Googling found this: "Chrome not storing history is the problem, the most visited websites are based on how often they come up in your history. If you are intentionally blocking chrome from storing your history then try turning your history on and visiting the sites you want on the new tab page then turning it off again(I do not know how to turn it on or off on command). If its unintentional then it seems like that would be your main problem." with a potential fix: "Go to Settings, in Google Chrome. Then, click on Show advanced settings. At the very end, you will see Reset browsing settings. Click on that: it will change to the default settings, but hey, it will also clear your browsing history and disable extensions. For extensions, you can enable it again if you have installed them like ad block plus or any other." https://superuser.com/question...uently-visited-pages

Thank you Very little |
I noticed that as well it started this week, I haven't turned history on or off or made any other changes to chrome. The pages flash up in the reminder section but not long enough for me to click on them, so something has changed in Chrome. Also odd, not all the pages in history show up, I have 3 or 4 web pages I have to reopen daily to get to those pages but they are not in the history section on a new tab. They do remind me now every day that it's Black History Month in that space.

Tried signing in to Chrome. That didn't work. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. Luke 11:21 "Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." -- George W. Bush

Interesting my Chrome, is only shown 4 of my frequently visited websites lately instead of normal 8.

Thanks very much! Mine brought all 8 back at 90%. Don't know what changed always ran at 100% before.

Thanks! 90% brings back 4 of them, 80% brings them all back. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. Luke 11:21 "Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." -- George W. Bush

As of about 2-3 weeks ago, I can no longer access Ally Bank using Chrome - the 1st page after the login freezes up. I emailed Ally and they responded with a bunch of stuff I should do - like make sure I'm using the latest edition, clear my cache, etc. all of which I had already done. If none of that worked, they asked for some specific information and screenshots, which I sent 2 weeeks ago. Haven't heard from Ally since and still doesn't work. So, I login using Firefox.
