WOOD RIVER, Neb. —
Authorities are investigating a fatal explosion at a chemical compound building in central Nebraska.

According to Nebraska TV, the Hall County attorney reported the explosion happened at Hornady Manufacturing in Wood River on Friday morning.

Hornady, which is headquartered in Grand Island, makes ammunition and bullets.

Authorities said that a woman died in the explosion, and her identity is being withheld until family is notified.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshal is investigating the explosion. There's no word on the cause at this time.

I'm pretty sure Hornady uses some (all?) of what used to be the Cornhusker Army Ammo Plant.

A shame they had an accident and even more so that it resulted in a fatality.
