I got a new windshield put in my truck last year and sometime over the winter the seal must have shrunk or cracked. Once I get up about about 40MPH something special happens. Here's a video.

Imagine driving for an hour with that happening. Any quick fixes? Big Grin

If safelite installed, they will fix that. Give the installer a call. You might be suprised.

I drove for an hour today. Luckily it was 2 half hour drives or I'd have probably driven off a cliff to stop the sound.

If you hear it in person it sounds more like when you pinch the mouth of a balloon and pull it apart.

Nope. Pick a day you aren't working (e.g. raining) and take it back to the shop who gave you the whistling wonder. They ought to fix it for free.

It was Kelly Glass. They were about $300 less expensive. Now I know why. Big Grin

They seem to be closed when I'm off. I'll try to get a day and call them.

Yes. I had that happen. They resealed it, sound is gone. In a week take it through the car wash and make sure it does not leak. Need to wear your ear protection until then.

I had that before. It's the aerodynamics of the seal. What ended up happening is they put rubber over the seal that was already there.

It also happened after they replaced the windshield.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

My 2000 Grand Cherokee had an antenna that was an unusual shape, spiral from top to bottom. Whenever we drove in the rain it would whistle and vibrate, drove me nuts until I learned to ignore it.

Mark...we had the same thing start happening on a 1993 Mercury Villager years ago...it would run us nuts (it would stop or lessen if it was raining and start the tea kettle sound effect when it stopped)...

While on vacation in Savannah GA we had enough of it's nonsense and pulled into a glass shop...
Even though they were covered up, the owner came out, listened to our description and poked around the edge of the windshield...then went inside the shop and came back out and handed me a tube of thin runny "flowable" silicone and a little narrow thin plastic squeegee with instructions to slightly lift the chrome trim with the squeegee and squirt the runny silicon between the windshield and trim along the top of the windshield to keep the air forced up the windshield from going under the trim and making noise...

He said the vehicle needed to be parked for a few hours to let the runny silicon cure and repeat if necessary, so it would be better to do it at the place we were staying...

He gave us this this at no charge and said he would bet the farm that it would fix the problem...he was able to keep the farm Smile...no more "tea kettle" Big Grin...the whole fix took about 10-15 minutes plus letting it cure overnight...

Might be worth a try...

The tube of silicon was from Permatex...should also be available at Auto Zone or other parts houses...

Thanks, Bisleyblackhawk. That may be easier than finding time to get it back in the shop. It is my busy season.

Well, the truck is already 17 years old. 211,000+ miles. I don't think there are another 20 years in her. Big Grin
