Some glimpses into the commie-leftist mindset and shades of things to come....



U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., abruptly halted a Twitter debate with newcomer Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York early Sunday after at least three commenters made references to the June 2017 shooting in which Scalise and three other people were shot by a left-wing activist.

“snipe his a--,” one Twitter user wrote, in support of Ocasio-Cortez. (The user later denied that the post was a call for political violence, writing, "not seeing any violence there sorry" and telling Fox News it referred only to a verbal "sniping.")

“she’s got better aim than James Hodgkinson, that’s for sure,” another wrote, comparing Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter responses to the marksmanship of the suspect in the Virginia shooting, a Bernie Sanders supporter who later died in a shootout with police.

“Kick his cane,” a third wrote.

The anonymous comments came as multiple news outlets, without offering evidence, reported that conservatives had criticized Ocasio-Cortez for a viral video that surfaced last week showing her dancing on a rooftop while in college. In its article on the topic, Newsweek cited a single anonymous Twitter user to support its contention that conservatives were "mocking" Ocasio-Cortez.

Prior to the Twitter comments, Scalise and Ocasio-Cortez had been debating the Democrat’s proposal for enacting a tax rate of up to 70 percent on income. Scalise had called for letting Americans “keep more of their own hard-earned money.”

He claimed that Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez instead wanted to tax Americans’ income at higher rates in order to “give it to leftist fantasy programs.”

But after the Twitter followers’ comments appeared, Scalise opted to end the online discussion.

“Hi @AOC,” Scalise wrote to Ocasio-Cortez. “Happy to continue this debate on the Floor of the People’s House, but it’s clearly not productive to engage here with some of your radical followers. #StayClassy”

Scalise’s tweet appeared about 1 a.m. ET Sunday, or about two hours after Ocasio-Cortez’s late Saturday tweet, in which the newly sworn-in congresswoman claimed that Scalise didn’t understand “how marginal tax rates work.”

“Oh that’s right, almost forgot,” the Democratic socialist wrote. “GOP works for the corporate CEOs showering themselves multi-million bonuses; not the actual working people whose wages + healthcare they’re ripping off for profit.”

If Ocasio-Cortez had seen Scalise’s 1 a.m. tweet, she offered no immediate response early Sunday.

The 29-year-old New Yorker, who stunned much of the political world in June when she defeated longtime Democratic U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley in a primary and then won the state’s 14th Congressional District seat in November, has been drawing increased media attention this week – both for taking the oath of office Thursday and for an anticipated appearance Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

Previews of that taped CBS interview included references to the Democrat’s 70 percent tax-rate plan, to which Scalise and others reacted during the week.

Scalise, the House Republican whip, was himself featured on “60 Minutes,” in his first TV interview months after the Virginia shooting.

The 53-year-old congressman from New Orleans, who represents Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District, spoke of the “little miracles” he was achieving daily during his recovery.

Also wounded in the Virginia attack were Zack Barth, a congressional aide; Matt Mika, a lobbyist; and Crystal Griner, a U.S. Capitol police officer.

Scalise would later write about the shooting in the book, “Back in the Game: One Gunman, Countless Heroes, and the Fight for My Life,” which was published in November.

Has our society degraded to the point where that is acceptable?

She should have immediately called out those people and said that is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

It appears the Left has become a bunch of petulant children whose only way of getting attention is screaming at the top of their lungs.

Awful.

Here is my short analysis of the political landscape right now:

While the left has experienced some "victories," in Congress and apparently among public opinion, the arc of their anger has been and now is a mounting disadvantage.

If you haven't paid attention to my posts, I'm not exactly a Conservative, but I believe in Freedom and many of the tenets of civility that being a conservative holds more sacred than any strain of leftist.

The left lost the last Presidential election for a lot of reasons, but chief among them is that they believe they are above the rest of us.

What this means, is that while they are "tolerant" and "accepting," they can speak down from their alabaster pillar unto the deplorable masses, and none of the rules they espouse, apply.

If I can factor in the clarity of one Mr. Peterson, it also boils down to this: People who embrace pacifism, nonviolence etc., cannot control the emotions they are at luxury to view as injury.

The sand beneath the left, upon which all its tenets are built, is luxury. Their intellectual palace is made of glass and built on a mire.

What is so important, is civility, respect, and facts. If they can't do those things, they will self-defeat, as they repeatedly have.

We need to remain respectful, and let them make these mistakes, without engaging on the same level.

I think many of their voters fit that description, but Occluded-Cortex is more than that. She is a dullard, but she is also a seething, committed fascist and the MSM loves her.

Well, our society still has the rule of law. It's not always fair, but nobody is going to hunt anyone down as long as there's a functioning and fair enough justice system.

Calling her a fascist is not accurate. She's a dedicated and committed communist. My guess is that she's far more of a tankie than she lets on.

A debate is two sides talking and arguing a point. Not just typing things back and forth to each other on Twitter where any other random person can also chime in. I don't see the point in engaging with these people in such a forum in the first place.

When you're dealing with the mean, racist servants of greedy corporations, rules don't apply. Why would anyone be civil to such despicable people? That's the leftist attitude. Anything they say or do is justified in the pursuit of justice.

But this is what you get when Twitter is your main mode of 'communication'. Twitter is a cesspool that offers every mentally deranged lunatic a platform to reach hundreds if not thousands of like minded deranged lunatics (as well as many other normal people) with their hatefulness and incivility. People who are otherwise completely irrelevant find relevance in the digital space. Take those same people out from behind the screen of their little devices and face to face with those who share differing opinions, and a majority (not all) of them will behave completely different.

Nothing in the story above is anything different than we've been seeing for the last few years. The question everyone who has a grasp of reality should be asking is, where does this eventually go and how does it end?
