I need to stain a bunch of cedar decking. Have used Cabot but it is more than $50 a gallon Eek
Would like to get at least five years out of it if not more.
I plan to apply to all four sides since it will be done before putting them down. What do you guys like? I want some color to it. Not real dark but some color.
Probably going to need six gallons give or take.

TWP is good. I think we used to have a dealer here on Sigforum.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Penofin blue is the best stuff for western red, but it is also expensive.

One time wood is the best performance I've found. Not cheap but MIL's deck still looks pretty good going on 8-9 years now.

Buy Cabot and know you are using a quality stain. Cheap stain will reflect its results resulting in you asking this question again in two years

Regardless the brand you go with, make sure it has a UV blocker. Cedar tends to get a gray color with exposure to the sun.

A reddish brown, but it depends on the color of your house.

We used Ready Seal Pre-tinted Pecan Semi-transparent Exterior Wood Stain and Sealer on the cedar and fir of our new covered patio two years ago.

Had some remaining so used it on the new cedar shed I built earlier this year.

Second TWP. I've used most of the usuals and TWP wins hands down for me. Pressure treated wood deck

That's what I'd recommend as well. Super easy to use, it's a self-blending stain and sealer in one, with a UV blocker, and it can be sprayed, brushed, or rolled.

Available in your choice of colors, including a traditional orangeish brown cedar tone.

While Cabot and other similar products are good if you want the best there is only one choice and that is Sikkens. Period.
Of course, it is more expensive but most high end deck and siding contractors use it with great results…
