bronicabillDenied NICS check
Here in Alabama, a CCW permit "used" to work in lieu of a NICS check; that is until sheriffs in several counties got caught not DOING the background check for a few permits (letting friends slip through?)! That got shut down really fast and NICS is back for us... <sigh>

creslinOK got an update on all this.
It turns out that my coworker had a misdemeanor about 20 years ago which somehow shows up on his record now as a felony.
Over the course of the first week he was able to cobble together all the stuff needed to go to the FBI.
Court documents...
Fingerprints...
etc...
He got it all out in the mail on 11/27.
Today he finally got word back that he's perfectly OK to buy a rifle.
They gave him a upin.
Armed with his new certificate (it literally looks like a diploma or something lol) he went back to the gun store which was holding his rifle for him.
Once again back into the system for the NICS check - and he passed!
So now he's sitting back at home with his shiny new rifle. (DDM4v7 for those wondering what he got)

A Michigan CPL also worked until March 2020. All FFL’s here got notified by mail that due to our state’s law allowing recreational marijuana use and the allowing of certain misdemeanor domestic violence convictions to be overlooked when issuing CPL’s ended our bypassing 4473’s.
