It's the death knell for artists of all stripes. It can be nothing but this.
It will begin with the artists and it will extend to artisans once robots begin to be introduced to society.
Human beings will become obsolete, and don't fool yourself that we will still be needed to build robots.
I'd say "good luck" to future generations, but at this point, I can't say I really mean it, because we are willingly doing this to ourselves.

^^ I don't disagree one bit. Untill it annihilates us, I'm going use it to my advantage, better to know the enemy than not.
There's a number of threads on the subject, plenty to discuss job destruction, AI takeover, damage to the art community, etc. heck I'll even start one for strictly that if there's interest.
I stated the purpose of this thread, if that's unwanted in the forum, I understand.

It will be a real trick to keep AI and its progeny in the box of "tools" rather than as independent actors.
I don't believe we will ever have sentient computers; the ability to "feel" the emotions of others is essential to the concept of sentience, and I don't believe that a human can program that discernment into a computer. At best, a human can program a weak version of their own perceptions, not the full palate.
That doesn't mean that someone won't program a computer to have self preservation as a part of its core operations. When that happens, we'd better hope we remember where we put the off switch.
"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

How do expect anyone to be happy about this stuff? I ask you in all seriousness. How can any thinking person not see what is happening and not understand the implications? Again, I ask you these questions in all seriousness.
Go ahead and discuss this "art" if you want. I've said all I need to say.

I have a buddy who is a graphic artist; needless to say that he has no love for this A.I. art stuff. He told me over the weekend that he’s already seeing an impact on his industry and expects it will only get worse.
Why hire a person to image your vision when you can get a computer to do it for free.

AI creates nightmares that Hieronymus Bosch could never conceive.
I went to art school as a part of my degree and it was extremely hard for me. Now anyone can just give a computer some instructions and create some of the most disturbing images ever with no effort.

Skins feels piled upon, no doubt, and though he may find it difficult to believe, I understand his interest in these things. He has acknowledged the dangers inherent in this computer-generated art.
I think we should allow him to have his thread and allow anyone who wishes to discuss this art and leave out the things we all acknowledge. I am simply shocked at how quickly all of this has arisen. But, having said these things, we should leave it alone now. I'm not admonishing anyone, since it is I who was the first to respond in this thread, and that makes it my doing.
Skins and others, please feel free to discuss these things. You'll have no further interference.

I must lead a sheltered life, don't watch the news, etc. First I've heard of it, I appreciate the thread just for some info. on it. I'm not interested in that kind of art, posts like this will keep me informed though.

So, how are these pieces generated? Can anyone go online and do this, or is there software for it?

I've ran it locally on my computer, it's extremely resource intensive and my computer doesn't have the latest generation high dollar graphics card. Also since I'm not a computer programmer, I had to rely on freeware to run it (Stable Diffusion). The way most people use it is with a paid subscription through a company that allows you to use their processing power for a fee (approx 5¢ per picture).
The easiest ways someone can dip their toes in is using Bing or Lexica. Big is free and used ChatGPT, Lexica uses Stable Diffusion and allows about 20-30 free pictures to test drive their site. Bing uses your Microsoft login or other methods. Lexica uses Google login or other methods.
Bing is the easiest to use and completely free. It will create pretty nice pictures of certain things with the right prompts.
Lexica is also pretty easy to use, but prompt writing is slightly more important, but with a little practice will make better pics than Bing.
After that, it's research time. Takes some reading/watching of options available as well as prompt crafting.

I think Fredric Remington's paintings are safe for now . That's the kinda art I'm into. I guess things change over time, but it used to be that artists lived their work. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederic_Remington
To create art with a computer would most likely attract the younger generation. I was watching "The directors cut Woodstock movie" and can relate the way songs were created then and now.
In you OP you mentioned you want to share ideas on creation so I don't want your thread to wander off of that, hopefully there are others on here creating stuff the "new" way.

I've noticed that of I don't put any qualifiers (art type, style or medium) and use the word "devil" I get an Asian girl in NSFW attire.

Just for fun I tried a few paintings in his style. Looks like it captured it pretty well to someone like myself who not familiar with his work.

Is anything you've created using A.I. actually yours? I bet the terms and conditions agreement is a real doozy.

No it is not yours, it can't be copywrited either. Also your prompts are in public domain so anyone can copy them.
