Starting a trial process (day 1) with RGP lenses. Seemed to be a good solution for me on paper, as I have EBMD and I need a multifocal prescription that can address astigmatism. But for right now - man, these things hurt. Anyone here using them?

Sorry. RGP = rigid gas permeable, or hard, contact lenses. And EBMD = epithelial basement membrane dystrophy. It's a type of corneal dystrophy. Take-home point is that I have irregular and changing erosions on a layer of my cornea, so no smooth corneal surface. In theory, hard contacts should not only correct my "normal" vision defects, but also help make up for my irregular cornea.

had RGP, but they always bothered my eyes. So I went with a hybrid which is soft on the back and hard on the front. much better, and to me, worth the extra cost.

SynergEyes Hybrid is my brand, but there are several.

but if you can do RGP, that's probably easier for several reasons.
