This has proven to be a surprising thread. I didn't have much hope for it when it began. I thought it would be short and full of depressing posts, but not only has it been informative to newer members, and entertaining to longtime members, it's actually served to reunite us with some who had drifted away over the years.

Speaking for myself, this thread has given me a chance to clear the air about the whys and wherefores of some of the departures. A lot of the facts have been forgotten, and a lot of it, I never made it known in general. I've made mistakes and I have regrets. There is a lot that I would do differently now than in years past, when I was brash and cocky and too sure of myself. We lost some good people because of my inflexibility and I hope my feeling that I am leaving that behind, holds true.

With some exceptions that should be obvious, I say that the members we've discussed, who have drifted away or who were driven away by me or by circumstances, are all welcome here, and those who may be reading this thread, I encourage them to join us once again.

In years past, I probably would have locked a thread like this almost immediately, but that would have been a mistake.

Hopefully we’ve all learned to take a step back and reflect before answering sometimes.
Nice to hear that extended to anyone who may have been a valued member so we can all benefit from your wisdom again.

Always loved 3/4Flap's posts!! He posts over on Arfcom occasionally under a different username.

Wish he'd come back to SF! Smile

Hhhmmm... I never noticed that... but I really only paid attention to his homemade gear threads & outdoor winter shooting/firearm testing type posts.

Perhaps he acted differently in the Lounge or other sub-forums. Frown

The second one I bought a Porter Cable router and bits from.
He had the name Sailor in it I believe he was from Texas.

I just realized how of an impression on people I lack.

He and I have had our disagreement, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a good guy, as reflected by his posts.

Thank you all for the reminders and updates. A lot has transpired in my time here. It's a welcome stroll down memory lane.

I debated about posting this, but I have to say I found RHINOWSO to be a smart ass, condescending, jerk.

If RHINO doesn't like you, he'll rag on you every chance he gets and he'll twist the knife. At least, that's how he was in this place, and at that time. Perhaps he's grown some since then.

This stuff of getting on someone and not letting up is what led to his departure. I told him (and others) to leave this one member alone; don't respond to them at all or even mention them. I guess that was too much for him, because he left after that.

But, I just can't have it. What would this place be like if we allowed members to gang up on one member, with no one doing a thing about it. It's unacceptable.
