Body shop folks, question about the cost of fixing and repainting scratched rear bumper
My rule of thumb (as a customer) has always been: If you can see it, it's a $1,000 repair (at least). With the advent of sensors of every type being placed in the bumpers, I may need to up that to $5,000. Fortunately, I haven't had to test that.

220-9er
There are mobile services that do some sort of air brush type touch up at car dealers for scratches and other small paint damage.
I'd see if one of them can do it.

Dang, it looks like they’re actually planning on fixing it. Around here, I’d swear that nobody does what used to be body work anymore. They just replace the part and repaint it.

If you’re thinking about just living with it, definitely DIY it. You’ll be out a little bit of time, and probably not that much money, and it’ll look better. If you can stand just leaving it, you ought to be able stand it easier after your DIY effort.

My NX 350 had a similar damage. It cost $1300 to replace the bumper cladding and sensors.
