Waterbury man shot, killed by customer in Prospect armed robbery

By Julia Perkins Published 2:26 pm EST, Sunday, December 2, 2018

PROSPECT — State Police identified the Waterbury man who was shot dead Friday during an armed robbery in Prospect.

Torrance Battle, 44, was shot by a customer after police said he and another suspect tried to rob Rt. 69 Auto Sales on Friday evening. He was identified by police on Sunday after an autopsy.

State Police said two masked men went into the business with handguns and physically attacked several employees and the owner. A customer then used his legally-registered firearm to shoot several rounds of bullets at the attackers, who fled police said.

Police found a man with gunshot wounds nearby. Paramedics pronounced him dead. The second attacker has not been found.

The owner and employees were sent to St. Mary’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Clearly written by someone with a working knowledge of firearms.

Can’t argue with a happy ending though.

I think it's six.
The real question is, why couldn't he just shoot the gun out of their hands or shoot them in the leg?

Clearly Julia meant to write “round bullets” since they weren’t square! Grammatical constructs don’t always work out well these days!

I’d say there is more to the story of the robbery.
A car dealership seems like an awful strange place to rob.

Gotta wonder why a shitbag like this was on the streets in the first place. Let's just hit the highlights, shall we? Conspiracy to Commit Murder - Guilty. Assault / Discharge of Firearm - Guilty. Fail to Register - Sexual Violence - Guilty. In order to need to register for Sexual Violence, you had to commit sexual violence, so that's out there. Criminal Possession of a Firearm - Guilty.

Um, I'm all for rehabilitation, and all that stuff, but I don't think this guy was on that page. He didn't seem to have much interest in rehabilitation, from what I can see.

Hopefully, they get Shitbag #2.

So one bullet.
Earlier sources mention “round” as a term used by artillerists to refer to a projectile and its propellant. Using the term to refer only to a projectile (e.g., bullet) is a corruption of its original meaning.

Usually one. If fewer than one, they are usually called "blanks."

Yes, V-Tail is correct to say “usually” one; some cartridges have more than one bullet and others can have many, but we usually refer to those as “shot” rather than bullets.
