I remember Apollo 8 like it was last week glued to the tv watching the earth rise.

One of the biggest regrets I have was passing up an opportunity to meet Gene Cernan. I read his book and had a chance to meet him over a weekend in Tucson and let it slip away. I was thinking there was always next year. Four months later he passed.

I followed the space program from early Gemini through the shuttle and although I’ve met about a half dozen astronauts, the two that had the biggest impact on my life and career path was Armstrong and Cernan. The alpha and omega of moon walkers.

It is both sad and inevitable that we are losing this generation of heroes.
