Rey HRHA question for electricians.
Here's how I understand it and Skins may come in to correct me or all of us.
The fixture doesn't know what kind of lightbulb you put in. It can only experience how much current you're drawing. The 40 Watt type A bulb, the CFL 13 Watt bulb, and the LED 9 Watt bulb all put out about the same lumens but draw power at those different power ratings because of their efficiency.
You could put in an LED 40 Watt bulb and the fixture will just see it's drawing 40 watts power but it's going to be very bright. A 10 Watt draw is still less than the 40 watt draw of an Type A bulb.

LunaseeThe power (current) used by the bulb to make light is dissipated as heat.
More power (current) doesn't always mean more light (lumens). LED's create more light with less current than incandescent bulbs.
